CNLU Patna is one of the leading institutions that provide undergraduate and postgraduate programs in law along with other fields such as management, science, arts, commerce, etc. For the faculty of law, the university offers the integrated programa of BA LLB and the aspiring candidate must clear their class 12th examinations in any stream. The candidate also has to score a minimum number of marks in the CLAT, LSAT, or the university entrance exam for admission. The Department of Management Studies offers integrated BBA LLB program, where the candidates need to have passed class 12th exams and must have cleared CLAT test. The Chanakya National Law University – CNLU situated in Patna Bihar have offered several types of under graduate law programs in several departments. BALLB program by the University has specialty areas such as Constitutional, Business and Corporation, Criminal and International Law among others. For admission in the 5-year BALLB course, there is an exam called the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) which the students are required to write and obtain the University’s cutoff percentile. CNLU also has the five year integrated BA LLB Honors program under which the students are encouraged to take up courses in humanities and social sciences along with legal education. The previous courses, to enroll in this course, one has to complete the class 12 examination under the 10+2 system, and the minimum pass percentage may differ according to the University norms of different reserved categories. BA LLB program recognizes CBSE & ICSE boards for eligibility of qualifying examination.
UG level law programs provided by the University include Bachelor of Arts, Law and Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws.
Chanakya National Law University located in Patna provides several specializations in the field of LLM under different departments. The Commercial and Commercial Law is offering LLM in Commercial and Corporate Laws, where to get the admission candidate should have passed LLB exam and should have cleared CLAT or AILET and LSAT India or any state law entrance test. This programme is offered by the Constitutional and Administrative Law department and the admission requirements include an LLB qualification acquired from a recognized institution together with CLAT, LSAT or any other national law entrance examination pass off. The course titled ‘LLM in Criminal Law’ is conducted by the Criminal Law department as an opportunity for the candidates who have an LLB degree and qualify in CLAT or any other national law entrance test.

The departments of Chanakya National Law University Patna are the Ph.D. programs and these are offered across the Constitutional Law, Business Law, Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Law, Tax Law, and Human Rights Law, among others. At the least, the minimum requirement necessary for admission to a PhD program over different departments is 55% marks or equivalent in a master’s degree in the relevant discipline. As for the admission to the doctoral programs, the University considers students who have appeared for UGC NET, JRF, SLET, GATE or any other examination. There are usually other personal requirements depending on the department for instance; one is required to qualify the CLAT exam in order to be admitted into the Constitutional Law department.
