University of Kashmir has an authorized Director of Distance Education center for offering distance education courses. Founded in 1982, it provides a number of undergraduate and postgraduate, diploma and certification courses in arts, science, social sciences, commerce, Information Technology and many others. The University of Kashmir is a self financing Grade A+ NAAC accredited university and is ranked 55 in NIRF India Rankings 2023.
The directorate conducts various courses such as the BA, BCom, BSc, MA English, MSc Mathematics, PG Diploma in Computer Applications, Certificate course in French and so on. The admissions are open for the July 2024 session. They can use online and offline modes and the deadline for submission of the application is 31st May 2024. The entrance tests will be held in June through out in Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi, Chandigarh etc and the result will be declared by 3rd week of June. Some of them undergo some processes such as paying of fees and other documents before 5 July 2024 to confirm their admission. There are end-of-semester examination in November/December and the results released by January 2025.

Directorate of Distance Education, University Of Kashmir Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For Bachelor’s Degree programs, the candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognized board with minimum aggregate marks as per the program norms usually 45-50%.
2. As to the eligibility criteria, candidates aspiring to join Master’s Degree programs must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject or an allied subject and should have obtained the minimum percentage of marks as prescribed for the specific program (normally 45-50%).
3. For PG Diploma and Diploma programs, candidates must have passed the Bachelor’s degree examination in any course from a recognized university. Minimum percentage differs depending on the programs.
4. For Certificate programs the candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized board. There can also be other norms of eligibility related to specific programs that are present in certain institutions.
