Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural University is one of the Agricultural Universities in India situated at Akola in Maharashtra. This college was started in 1969 and it is accredited by the University Grants Commission of India. PDKV has attained NAAC grade ‘A’ and it was ranked at 101-150 in NIRF agricultural universities ranking 2023. 

PDKV provides education in undergraduate and postgraduate levels having connection with agriculture, agricultural engineering, fisheries science, home science, etc. Some of the famous courses that are, BSc Agriculture, BTech Agricultural Engineering, MSc Agriculture (Agronomy), MSc Agriculture (Horticulture), MFSc Aquaculture, and MSc Home Science. This is normally done in May every year. For UG programs, the mode of admission is through entrance tests across the country or state levels. The admission to the various classes of PG are done through entrance test and merit list. These examinations are planned for July 2023.

It is worth noting that PDKV has a good placement record whereby many companies in the agribusiness and food processing industries visit this university every year for their staff recruitment. Companies like Godrej Agrovet, UPL Ltd, PI Industries, Rotam CropSciences, Mahindra Agri Solutions, Axis Bank, Bandhan Bank etc. are recruiting the students of this college, and the biotechnology students are the most preferred candidates for these industries, out of 71 students 58 students got placed in 2022 with the maximum salary package of Rs 16,000 per annum. The average salary offered to candidates is between Rs 6-8 Lakh per annum. Many students also go for higher studies and get selected for national level examination such as NET, GATE, CAT etc Many students also get placed in reputed companies through the industry-academia partnerships like internships, live projects and guest lectures etc.

1. Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in the relevant stream as prescribed by the University i.e. Science / Agriculture / Commerce streams with not less than 50% marks. 

2. In case of BSc programs, it is mandatory to have Physics, Chemistry, Biology/mathematics on their CV. 

3. For the five universities for BTech (Agricultural Engineering), they must have studied physics, chemistry, maths and should have passed with at least 50% marks.

4. For MSc/PhD an applicant must have a relevant Bachelors/Masters degree with a minimum of 50-55% average depending on the discipline.

5. A relaxations of 5% in the qualifying examination marks awarded to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories.

6. No age limit. Any candidate who possessed qualification in relevant qualifying examinations can apply without regard to age or the number of attempts.

Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola Maharashtra was established in 1983 offering under graduate, post graduate and DOCTORATE courses in agriculture, horticulture, Forestry and Agricultural Engineering, Home Science, Basic Sciences and other related subjects. 

PDKV was set up in 1969 with nine colleges and 16 research stations imparting education, conducting research and extension service to meet the requirements of the Vidarbha region. It is preparation and application of knowledge in agriculture, which will enhance the economy of the rural areas.
