Fakir Mohan University commonly known as FMU is a state university situated in Balasore in the odisha state of India. It was founded in 1999 and is approved by UGC and accredited by NAAC at the B++ level. Recently in NIRF rankings 2023, FMU got positioned among the 151-200 universities of the country.
FMU provides education up to the Doctoral level in various fields of study including science, arts, commerce, law, education, journalism and mass communication, etc. In FMU some of the most offered courses include; BA, BSc, BCom, MA, MSc, MCom, integrated MBA, LLB, BEd among others. It is worth mentioning that examinations in the university are held twice a year in November-December and in April-May for each semester. Candidates are admitted to FMU on the basis of national or state level examinations such as JEE Mains, Odisha Joint entrance etc The admission process normally starts in May and the classes start in July-August for the new session which will be 2024.
FMU has an active placement cell that aims at placing students of the final year into jobs and other employment opportunities. The placement statistics reveals that over the last few years around 150 plus companies have visited the FMU campus for campus placements. Some of the prominent recruiters of FMU are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, Accenture, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel and so on The maximum salary offered to the students of FMU is 18 lakhs while the average salary offered is in the range of 4- 6 lakhs. Overall around 70-80% of the students are placed through campus drives every year although the percentage may vary from institute to institute. The placement rate of the students has been on the rise from the year to year together with the university’s brand value among the recruiters.

The placement records at Fakir Mohan University have been phenomenal in the recent past as well. Some of the companies that regularly come to the campus for making recruitments for students are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture etc. The maximum salary package given during the placement drive at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology in the academic year 2021-22 was of American Express with an offer of Rs. 12 lakhs per annum. It was Rs 5, 00,000 per annum, and this was an average salary offered to the candidates by companies dealing in IT sector and engineering firms. Campus recruitments conducted the last year revealed that 78% of the total students who were eligible got placed. These are due to the facts that strong industrial links, extensive training provided to students, large alumni base and the overall focus to make students employable even before passing out.
