Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI) is a deemed university situated in Gandhigram, which is in the district of Dindigul in the state of Tamilnadu. Founded in 1956 currently having NAAC Grade’A’ accreditation. According to NIRF Rankings, GRI has been ranked between 101-150 in the university category in the year 2023. It is accredited by the University Grants Commission and UGC and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE. The institute also provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate, in subjects spanning arts, science, engineering, and education, rural development etc.
GRI provides programs of study in various fields of study within the faculties. Gandhigram Rural Institute Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. BSc Agriculture (4 years) – Passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology and minimum 50% marks aggregates. No age limit. There are others such as being eligible for institute entrance exam.
2. BEd (2 years) – Candidates who have passed Graduation in any stream with not less than 50% of marks. Cleared TET exam. Age limit is 30 years, and the candidate should be a member of the African Union. The second one aims at qualifying a candidate for institute entrance examination.
3. MA Rural Development (2 years) – The candidate must have passed graduation in any stream securing minimum 50% aggregate. No age limit. It helps in the qualification for the institute entrance exam.
4. MSc Physics (2 years): Bachelor degree in Physics with 50% aggregates marks. No age limit. Pass entrance examination to get admission into an institute.
5. Diploma in Handloom and Textile Technology offered for 1 year, duration: - 10+2 in any stream with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Age restriction is a maximum age of twenty-two years. Selected on merit as per their performances in school.
6. Certificate in English Proficiency (1 year) – It is an Academic Program and the minimum qualification needed is 10+2 in any stream with minimum 50% aggregate marks. No age limit. Secure a place to sit for an entrance examination of the Institute.

Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), a university in Tamil Nadu has revealed that it posted high placement outcomes with its graduating batch of 2022. About 85 percent of the students got placed in companies they chose for internships, and the highest package was Rs 18 lakhs per annum offered by ZS Associates.
