Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is one of the top National Law Schools in India located in city of Gandhinagar in the state of Gujarat. It was set up in the year 2003 under the Gujarat National Law University Act 2003. It has been accredited at Grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and as per the NIRF Rankings 2023, this institution stands at the 4th position out of all the law schools in India.
This means that GNLU has Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration in Law, Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Law, and Doctor in Philosophy in Law programs. The process of admissions is a two-step process: some of the institutions conduct CLAT that is a national level examination and then there is counseling. Gujarat National Law University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. To be eligible for the programme, the candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination and that to have obtained minimum 45% of marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST category).
2. The candidate holding a valid CLAT score should have been preferred. CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test, which is the examination held for the purpose of admission to the national law universities in Indian territory.
3. Age has no bar in CLAT so there is no upper age limit to apply for this examination. Intake for CLAT is open for the candidates who have passed 10+2 examination or any equivalent examination.
4. Foreign nationals and NRIs can seek admission directly to the University on merit of 10+2 grades without CLAT. These entities have their own application process that is different from those outlined above.
5. Eligibility criteria of CLAT, any candidate who might be appearing for their 10+2 examinations or any examination, which is equivalent to it, can appear for CLAT and apply.
6. Government of Gujarat rules there present reservation policy in the university for SC, ST and OBC students. It is also worth noting that there are some privileges for candidates with some kind of disability.
