Gujarat Vidyapith Ahmedabad is a deemed university, which aims to provide education in arts, science, commerce, education, rural studies, social work, etc at the undergraduate and postgraduate level In order to provide admission for these programmes, the university has laid down different criteria depending on the department and course. For admission to BA, BSc, BCom programs will require the candidate to clear their 12th or equivalent from a recognized board. Students who wish to pursue the MA, MSc, MCom programs should possess a relevant undergraduate degree with the specified minimum aggregate marks. Gujcet, Gset/net, CAT, GMAT etc are accepted examination for admission for the courses. Such courses as BEd admit candidates with graduation in any field and passing of teacher’s eligibility tests. This is very important because the MEd program accepts BEd degree holders. Candidates who wish to apply for the social work programs he/she must possess the BA/BSc degree. For the position of integrated rural development programs, the candidates who have passed 12th standard should apply.
University has regular courses such as BA with 16 major subjects, BSc in Physics, chemistry, mathematics, BCom in accounting & Finance or Banking & Insurance, Masters degree in over 25 disciplines, Master of Philosophy/Doctor of Philosophy in various subjects and other diploma/certificate courses in Gandhi studies and Non-violent Peace making etc. The admission process begins in the month of May every year. Counseling for admission to UG programmes is based on GUJCET held in May/June. University admission tests for postgraduate programs are also conducted in May-July as PGAT. The current academic session begins in the month of July/August.
