The Homi Bhabha National Institute – HBNI is a deemed university situated in Mumbai in the State of Maharashtra. It is one of the national level institute which is run under the Government of India. HBNI has been accredited grade ‘A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and ranked 75th among universities in India NIRF 2023. It oversees various research and development undertakings in nuclear science, engineering and technology involving ten affiliate institutions.  

HBNI provides doctoral and postgraduate studies in science, engineering, health sciences, humanities and management. The areas of study in the course are Nuclear technology, Accelerator, science, Chemical sciences, Materials & Manufacturing, Computational sciences, Radiation Biology, and Strategic, etc. HBNI offers admission in Ph.D and M.Tech programs and this is through a national level entrance examination known as HBNI entrance examination and another round known as interview.

HBNI has a very good ratio of placements, 95% of the student gets placed in renowned research establishments such as DAE, NPCIL, DRDO, ISRO, and CSIR laboratories. Many students also get jobs in premier institutes/Schools like IITs, IISc and even Universities in foreign countries for further studies. The salary offered by the companies in 2023 placement was up to 18 LPA. BARC, NPCIL, AMD, BRIT, UCIL, IREL, and other establishments of the DAE and PSUs are considered the principal recruiters.
