The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is one of the oldest open learning institutions of India situated at Mysore, Karnataka. KSOU was came into existence in the year 1996 and it has been providing the Distance Education and Open University System in Karnataka. KSOU is under UGC and NAAC accreditation: ‘Grade A’. As per NIRF ranking of 2023, KSOU stands on the 55 th rank in the list of open universities in India.

Karnataka State Open University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. The admission requirement for programs such as BA, BCom, BSc- The candidate must have cleared 10+2 or any equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks for GEN/OBC category and 40% marks for SC/ST/PWD category.
2. For BEd program – candidate must have passed Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject with minimum 50% marks for General Category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC categories candidates) and must have cleared the State Eligibility Test.
3. For postgraduate programs like MA, MCom, MSc – For admission to these courses candidate must possess Bachelors degree of any recognized University, with minimum 45% of the marks for open category and 40% for SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer)/KMs.
4. For MED program – Holders of Bachelors degree in the relevant field, one-year experience of teaching and having cleared the State Eligibility Test.
5. For diploma and certificate programs, the applicants should have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent.
6. For PhD programs – A post graduate degree in the particular subject area of intended mastery + fulfill other admission requirements as may be specified by the University.
