Kerala University is a government university established in 1937 under the Act of Kerala State Legislature (Act 14 of 2007) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Founded in 1937, it is among the oldest universities in the State. Kerala University falls under the category of governmental universities and has received its recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and an ‘A’ grade from NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). Kerala University secured 101-150 band in the NIRF 2023 Rankings in the overall category of universities. The university provides over 100 programs in areas of sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, law, finance, commerce, management, and education. It has 150 colleges under it and registers more than 1.5 lakh students annually.
Kerala University has courses in the fields of faculties. The some of the popular undergraduate courses includes BA, BSc, BCom, BTech, LLB, MA, MSc, MCom, MTech and MPhil/PhD programs respectively. Undergraduate programs are offered with admission via results of Kerala Higher Secondary exams. At postgraduate level entrance tests conducted at state or national level are essential for the admissions. The university has semester exams in the month of October and November and March and April respectively. Oral tests are conducted shortly after the written tests. Answers are released a month after the examination. It will begin taking applications in May 2023 for the 2024 admission year. It means that all the admissions are purely on merits in the qualifying exams and entrance test.
