HMHU, established in 2011, is a state university situated in Karnal of Haryana state of India and it is basically the Maharana Pratap Horticultural University. UGC recognized and NAAC accredited the MPHU with ‘B++’ grade in the year 2016 MPHU is a premier institution for imparting education, conducting and promotes research and extension education in the sphere of horticulture and allied disciplines. It has ranked 64 in the agricultural and allied sciences category as per NIRF 2023 rankings.
The university presently conducts undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in various specialization fields of horticulture like Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture & Landscape Architecture, Plantation, Spices, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Post Harvest Management. Interested students can submit on-line application for admission in various programs on the basis of merit of qualifying examination. Admission for the 2024 batch of students will be expected to started in May 2023. The university has a total intake capacity about 550 students in a year for both Under Graduate and Post Graduate programs.

1. For undergraduate programs, completion of the 10+2 examination from a recognized board/university in the respective fields with minimum 50% marks are needed.
2. For postgraduate, an applicant should possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject and should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the course. Higher percentages can be expected in some programs.
3. For professor, minimum 55% in master’s degree in relevant subject and cleared the NET/GATE exam for PhD.
4. For diploma courses, one should have passed 10+2 in any stream from recognized board or its equivalent. This means that pass rates vary depending on the program of study offered in the university.
5. Most programs allow entry without any upper age limits but the minimum age is 17 years. There can be certain requirements in terms of age, with reference to certain programs.
6. Flexibility in grading for the students belonging to reserved category as per government policy. Other conditions such as entrance test may be required for the specific programs stated above.
