Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV) situated at Satna, M.P. has many departments & streams available. The eligibility criteria differs based on the disciplines as well. For the ‘BA,’ ‘BSc,’ ‘BCom’ courses, one has to pass 12th standard from a recognized board. MA, MSc, MCom requires a relevant bachelor’s degree as the previous step. To be eligible for the PhD program, one requires a postgraduate degree in the relevant field with at least 55% marks. Included accepted entrance tests are MP PET, CUCET, MGCGV entrance test. Some faculties are – Faculty of Arts offers a three-year Bachelor of Arts program in subjects such as Economics, English, Home Science, Music and Political Science, etc., and Masters in Arts program in subjects such as Anthropology, History, Population Studies, etc. Faculty of Commerce offers the three-year Bachelor of Commerce program and the two-year Masters in Commerce program. Botany, Biotechnology and Zoology are offered by Faculty of Life Sciences at BSc and MSc level. It also offers diploma, bachelor and masters programmes in fields such as, Computer Applications, Education, Engineering, Law, Library Science, Journalism, among others.
The next admission process for the 2024 batch in different programs and courses offered by MGCGV will take place during May-June next year. The major entrance tests for admission will be MP PET, CUCET and the test conducted by MGCGV. Application forms will be available online and when candidates complete the application forms, they will be selected based on counseling sessions. The final disposition will depend on the scores obtained in the entrance test, academic performance at times, and personal interview in others. Normally, the process of admission is performed until August every year before the new academic year begins. Most updated information regarding the courses offered, the eligibility criteria, and the admission process for the 2024 intake across the various departments are available on the official website of the university and students must check the website often for updates.

For online application, one may visit the official website of the University at www.mgcgv.ac.in and navigate your way around the ‘Admission’ link. Choose the course of your choice, enter all necessary information and attach necessary documents. They pay the application fees through the Internet. Finally one should take a print out of the completed form for future reference.
To apply for admission offline please pick the admission form from the administrative office of the university. Kindly complete all the fields, adhere the photographs and enclose the photocopies of the documents as attached. Enclose the filled up form and a demand draft of the application fee with this office, at the Administrative Office.

6. The final page: You should save and/or print the confirmation/acknowledgment page after the form is submitted.
7. In case shortlisted for the position, you will be expected to undergo counseling rounds in accordance with the dates mentioned above. Go to counselling as and when informed together with all your original documents as well as fees for admission confirmation.
8. Follow the procedure regarding admission in the particular college/university as per fixed timetable, in case a candidate gets a seat.
- The admissions to the BTech programs are normally based on the scores obtained from state or national level entrance tests. Some of the popular entrance exams are JEE Main, MP PET, and the like.
- Applicants wishing to pursue a course in an institution or a particular university sit for the entrance examination and once they pass they can do counseling/admission based on their preferred scores. Counseling is carried out by specialized persons.
- There could also be some seats within each category that are filled by direct admission based on the marks scored in 12th board/ qualifying examination.

- All these programs have admission processes that require students to enroll according to their performance in the university’s entrance examination. The only test adopted for the main examination is MP PET (Madhya Pradesh Pre Engineering Test).
- To participate in the examination and get a call for interview every candidate must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, chemistry and Mathematics as the main subjects. They must have passed the exams in the relevant discipline and have secured at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST students).
- When the MP PET exam is complete, the scores are generated and the list of students in the order of merit is drawn up. Counseling is done and well allotted the seat to candidates based on the ranks obtained, the available number of seats, and branches of their preferences.
- Certain seats are also reserved in the basis of national level examinations such as JEE Mains. These jobs require preparing of different merit lists.
- There are also limited opportunities for lateral entry for those with diploma in the B.Tech program for the second year based on the diploma grade/rank obtained.
- The university offers many branches for B.Tech like Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical and so on; the number of seats that are available in each branch as well as the exact requirement of the students are also different.

7. It is merit based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination i.e tenth standard plus two or any other equivalent examination. This cannot however happen, without meeting minimum eligibility criteria as well.
