The Martin Luther Christian University Shillong provides various under graduate and post graduate levels in arts, Science commerce, Computer Applications, Social Work and Teacher Education. Some of the key eligibility criteria across departments include: The BA courses in subjects such as English, Economics, Political Science calls for 10+2 pass in the relevant stream. In order to be admitted to BSc programs, a candidate must have passed 10+2 Science background with 50% marks or its equivalent, or have done Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Botany. BCom program for admission requires a pass in 10+2 in any stream and minimum 45% marks. A pass in 10 + 2 examination with Mathematics is needed for the BCA program. For BSW and Bed, a candidate needs to pass 10+2 from any stream and for BCom, it is 10+2 with commerce stream. They can appear for Entrance Examinations like NEHU MET, CUCET etc and State level examinations have also been included in some universities.
The university is presently providing almost twenty courses and streams under under graduate and post graduate programs. This University is situated in Shillong and it offers different Bachelors Programs in different specialization areas. The major areas of the university graduates study are arts, science, commerce computer application, social work, and management. For getting admission in BA programs such as Economics, English, Education, History, the students passed the Class 12th examination with the minimum 50% of the aggregate marks from any recognized board of education like CBSE/ISC/State. The qualifying exams accepted are the HSCL test, CBSE and others. For rest subjects such as BSc Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Botany, Computer Science- the student must have 50% in their Class 12th Science stream. Admission tests include the University’s own HSCL, CBSE, and other equivalent state boards. The BCom program has a requirement of having passed the 12th standard with minimum of 50 percent marks in any stream – Science, Arts and Commerce. They include BCA, Bachelor of Social Work, BBA courses with 50% in 10+2 level being the admission criterial.
The University has diversified Undergraduate Programs in various fields including Arts, Science, Commerce etc. Common Bachelor’s programs include Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).
Martin Luther Christian University Shillong has Doctor of Philosophy programmes in Management, Commerce, English, Education, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Sports, Home Science and Physical Education. The eligibility criteria for the admission in PhD across the departments for the different departments are a Master’s degree in the respective subject with minimum 55% marks in aggregate. The accepted qualifying examinations are UGC-NET/SLET, GATE, SET, or M.Phil. Some departments also allow combined scores of acquired coursework marks and the entrance examination conducted by the University. This University provides Full time and Part time Doctor of Philosophy degree programmes of Management, Commerce, Humanities, Sciences and Education streams.
