Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER) is a Deemed University situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. MAHER was established in the year 2004 and it is accredited by the University grant commission (UGC) and affiliated to the All India council for technical education (AICTE). The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the university has got Grade A. In the NIRF university rankings releasing in April 2023, MAHER was placed in the band of 101-150 in the overall ranking and 51 among universities.
The university has over 450 programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing, management, science and humanities. Some of the most sought after courses are Medical (MBBS), Dentistry (BDS), Engineering (B.Tech), Business Administration (MBA) and Nursing Sciences (B.Sc). Entrance examinations for various programmes for the session 2024-25 will be conducted in April-May, whereas the academic session is likely to start in August. Admissions are competitive and are done according to marks scored in the qualifying examinations such as NEET, JEE Main etc and also University conducted entrance exams. The application process usually starts in January every year.
MAHER has well equipped infrastructural facilities located in four campuses of Chennai. The placement cell helps in recruitment by arranging companies such as Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Samsung, HCL, Wipro etc The reputed companies that visit MAHER for campus placements are over 500 in number. The maximum annual package reported in 2022 was Rs 43.33 lakhs per annum and the median of the annual package was Rs 6.2 lakhs per annum. The training and placement cell was able to place more than 96% of the eligible students in different sectors. Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For admission to the undergraduate programmes such as BTech, BSc, BA, BCom etc, candidates have to complete 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board and minimum marks may vary according to the discipline.
2. For postgraduate programs like MTech, MSc, MA, MCom etc., candidates must have a relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute/university with minimum percentage marks again varying.
3. PhD for instance requires the candidate to possess a postgraduate degree in the concerned subject with minimum marks as prescribed by the university and must have qualified GATE/NET or any other equivalent examination.
4. For the admission in programs like MBBS, BDS, candidate must have passed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, Biology stream from any recognised board with minimum 50% marks for general category.
5. Diploma courses in engineering, computer applications, etc., offered after completion of 10th standard or any equivalent examination also have minimum pass requirements of the 10th standard.
6. For all programs, the facilities of relaxation and concessions as per rules of government are available in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, defense personnel, physically handicaped etc.
