NIT Sikkim is a National Institute of Technology located at South Sikkim that provides B.Tech degree programmes in Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering streams. The requirements for B.Tech admissions include showing a pass certificate of class 12th with 75% aggregate marks for PCM subjects ; 65% for SC/ST/PwD. Admission to these courses is done on the basis of the ranks secured in the JEE Main. Communication and signal processing, power electronics and drives, computer science & engineering, mechanical engineering are also provided by NIT Sikkim M.Tech degree. M.Tech admission for the NIT Sikkim requires the candidates to hold B.Tech/BE pass in the related stream and the candidate must secure at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST category). M.Tech admission process is also depends on the GATE scores in the respective discipline of specialization. For getting into the NIT Sikkim the candidates have to qualify in the GATE / JEE Main examination or pass their class 12th examination.
NIT Sikkim has the following major streams for the admission in the year 2024 B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering at B.Tech. & M.Tech. The admit has to produce certain entrance tests which can be JEE Main, GATE and the marks of class 12 examinations. The key dates for admission for the year 2024 are as follows: JEE Main application process will begin in November 2023 while GATE 2024 applications will commence from August/September 2023. The admission procedure includes online registration, writing entrance exams and tests, counselling and submitting relevant documents. Based on the entrance tests and class 12th PCM scores as per rule for the selection. The academic year at NIT Sikkim starts in the middle of the year, most times in July after all the admission processes have been concluded. Accommodation in the form of hostels is also provided to the students both for girls and boys within the respective school.

1. As per course, interested candidates can log on to the NIT Sikkim website and go through the admission notice for the B.Tech
2. Just get yourself registered and fill JEE Main application form online with the last date being kept in mind.
3. Sit for any of the JEE Main examination and obtain a valid score.
4. Counseling for seat allocation through JoSAA in consideration to the JEE ranks of the candidates.
5. The admission procedure makes it easier for students to be assigned a seat by the institution and make payments of fees before the due dates.

The NITS located in South Sikkim offers PhD programs in all the departments of Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Chemistry, Mathematics and Humanities & Social Sciences. The normalized eligibility criteria formulated for the PhD admissions across departments include having a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with minimum 60% of aggregate marks or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale. This is because the qualified students who aspire to join M.Tech/PhD programs must fulfill the GATE/NET qualification. While there is no specific information about which scope of exams is accepted, according to the different departments, the accepted examination includes GATE, NET, BET, NBHM, CSIR-UGC.NET, etc.
