National Rail and Transportation Institute Vadodara - Admission, Courses, Fees & Rankings 2024

National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI) is a deemed University set up in 2018 by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India to create a pool of Railway Management Professionals as well as to provide human resource for Rail Infrastructure development. NRTI brings UG and PG courses in various fields and streams connected with transport. It is UGC recognised and is an NAAC Grade A accredited institute. According to the NIRF Ranking 2023, NRTI has been ranked at 28 for engineering institutes in India.

NRTI provides 4-year BTech in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, & Transport Technology. It also provides 2 year Masters of Technology in the field of Transportation Engineering and Systems Engineering. For under graduate courses, it accepts score through JEE Main and for post graduate courses through GATE entrance examination. Future examination dates that are applicable for admissions in academic year 2024 include JEE Main for the January session 2024 and GATE for February session 2024. The NRTI programmes are offered in numerous specialties and the admission to the next academic year will be possible after announcements of specific exam results. The admission procedure is as follows: Applying to NRTI Common entrance tests, counselling for final admissions till July 2024. 

In its performance, NRTI has registered good placement of students as graduates from the institution. L&T, TfL, Alstom, Siemens, IBM, Uber etc. are some of the reputed companies that have provided campus placements to the students of the department. The college secured placements for 85+% of the eligible graduating students of 2022, with the Maximum CTC being Rs 27 lakhs per annum. The maximum salary package went up to Rs 15 lakhs per annum and the minimum was Rs 4 lakhs per annum. Placements and internships of NRTI are done through a well-developed placement and internship cell that provides its students with an opportunity to practice and develop themselves as per market demands during their course in the institute. National Rail and Transportation Institute Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. Railroad Conductor Certification - 18 years and above, high school diploma, general educational development certificate, pass physical examination and drug screening, cannot have felony convictions in the last 7 years, must own or have access to transportation to attend training.  

2. Diesel Mechanic Certification: Minimum Age – 18, High School Diploma/GED, physically capable for the job, pass pre-employment drug test, clean criminal record, High school mathematics and any prior Mechanic schooling.

3. Heavy Equipment Operator - Operator must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, possess high school diploma/GED, must not use illicit drugs, criminal record check, possess a clean motor vehicle record, meet eye sight requirement, physically fit, and pass a operator skills test.  

4. Logistic Management Certificate - Must have associate or bachelor degree, or qualifying work experience, have a computer and Internet connection, be proficient in math, be detail oriented and an organized person.

5. Supply Chain Professional Certification – A bachelor’s degree is highly preferred; the candidate should possess prior experience working in a supply chain, inventory or logistics position; good attention to detail and the ability to work with technology.  

6. Transportation Manager Degree – High school diploma/GED, 2.5 cumulative GPA, letters of recommendation, personal statement, interview may be required; prior work experience in transportation preferred.
