National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Ernakulam, is a University that offers several undergraduate and postgraduate legal courses across the fields of arts, business administration, commerce and law, including BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB, LLM, LLB, PhD and diplomas. Before a candidate can apply for the 5-year integrated law courses such as BA LLB, BBA LLB or BCom LLB, one must have passed the 12th standard or any other equivalent examination from a recognized board. The above-mentioned qualifying examination include CBSE, ICSE, State Boards. The 3 year LLB programme requires a bachelor’s degree of any stream with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate.
Some of the areas of specialized law courses and streams provided by NUALS include Criminal Law, Business Law, Constitutional Law, Taxation Law, Intellectual Property Rights Law, Cyber Law, International Law and others. The process of admission for 2024 batch requires the candidate to fill up an online or offline form and also to take the NUALS National Entrance Test (NNET). The candidates who are selected are asked to come for counselling sessions for document verification before the provisional admission of the seats they have been assigned based on NNET rankings, choice and availability.
Process for filling up of Admission Form online Read the instructions carefully before filling up the form:
1. Photo identity proof such as Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence etc for confirmation of applicant’s identity and age.
2. Certificate confirming the successful completion of 10th standard as per the examination conducted by any recognized education board along with the mark sheet of 10th standard.
3. Passing certificate of 12th standard and mark sheet showing that the candidate has passed 12th standard examination or any other examination, which is equivalent to or higher to 12th standard examination from any recognized board of education.
4. The documents required for this eligibility are degree certificate and consolidated mark sheet showing successful completion of the bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
5. Original documents of the entrance exams like CLAT, LSAT, if the applicant appears for these exams based on the course he or she is seeking admission.
6. Character with reference to the last institution attended or character certificate from a gazetted officer stating that the character of the candidate is good and beyond any doubt.
1. Check eligibility – Candidates must have completed their LLB degree from any University subscribed to the Bar Council of India with minimum 50% marks.
2. Online submission - Complete an electronic application form and provide relevant documents before the end of the stated date. Make the application fees through online mode.
3. Common entrance examination for NUALS LLM – write the Common entrance examination for NUALS LLM which is held at the end of May or early June.
4. Merits - NUALS declares the list of selected candidates in third week of June, where 50% weightage is given to entrance exam and 50% weightage for LLB marks.
5. Counselling – all shortlisted candidates should attend counselling as per the time that is docketed for them and they are required to choose their stream.
6. Admission – If the seats are available for opting the chosen specialization, candidates can deposit the fees and get admitted.
7. Commencement – First semester of the academic year starts early August depending on the University calendar. Students are required to sum up their findings on the date that will be set.
