Kota is a city in Rajasthan state of India and home to one of the largest state-level universities known as Rajasthan Technical University (RTU). Originally set up in 2006, RTU has grown into one of the major technical universities in the region of North India, with more than 124 colleges under its umbrella. RTU is also recognized by UGC and AICTE and was recently accredited by NAAC also. NAAC pointed out in their assessment that it deserved a Grade A status because of its quality education and research. According to NIRF rankings of 2023, RTU has secured its position as 85 among all the universities in India. 

RTU is one of the prestigious universities that cater to a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture and management. The programs offered ranges from the Undergraduate level that comprises ; B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Arch, MBA and Diploma with the areas of specialization that include Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering and so on. New semester tests are taken in November and May for each year or semester respectively. B.Tech and B.Arch courses at Murari Lal Jat College of Architecture and B.Tech (computer science) and MBA admissions are through the state level entrance exam REAP and scores in CAT/MAT respectively. Admission to the colleges generally begins in the month of May 2024 for the next session. 

RTU holds a good track record of placements, the companies like Infosys, Wipro Technologies, TATA Consultancy services, Larsen & Toubro, Cognizent and Accenture select students from the college. Nearly all the eligible B.Tech students passed out in the year 2022 were given placements in different companies. Maximum salary package offered to the candidates was of Rs.180000/- per annum and minimum salary package offered was of Rs.62000/- per annum. Till date a number of companies like L&T which also provide average pay packages around 4-5 lakhs for mechanical and civil engineering students along with PSUs through GATE. This can be explained by the fact that RTU graduates are well exposed in technical skills and knowledge in their respective fields.

Rajasthan Technical University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

BTech: One has to clear 10+2 exam from any recognized university with 50% marks having subjects Physics, Chemistry & Maths. There is a policy that the candidates from the reserved categories have 5% relaxation. Apart from direct admission, the candidates can get admission into B.Tech through state/national level entrance exams.

MBA: The graduation in any stream or discipline with minimum 50% marks in graduation or its equivalent examination. The reserved candidates are allowed 5% relaxation to pass the examination. Admission through management quota or the candidate needs to clear any of the management entrance tests like CAT/MAT/CMAT etc or on the basis of merit. 

MCA: Mathematics at 10+2 level basically means mathematics education at the plus-two level, which is on the secondary level of school education. Graduation with 50% marks. For the reserved category of students 5% relaxation in the minimum cut off marks shall be given. tate/national level entrance tests as one of the criteria for admission.

MTech: The candidate should be pass in BE/BTech or its equivalent examination securing minimum 60% marks overall. This could also include the 5% relaxation of the reserved category candidates. Even though lateral admission is available for GATE qualified candidates or those who cleared the entrance exam conducted by RTU.

PhD: A Master’s degree in a related field from any of the recognized universities with minimum of 55% marks. Reservation benefits same. For admission to the first year, the candidates are admitted through the entrance test and interview.

RTU, Rajasthan has average placement every year and students try their best to get more and more companies to come and hire them. More than 75 percent of 1,800 students, who appeared for the placements conducted by GVGI in 2022, have been placed and 39 students have been offered the highest salary package of Rs. 32 lakhs per annum. Companies that actively participated in the recruitment process included Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant, and Accenture amongst others. The mean salary offered across branches was to the tune of Rs. 6.2 lakhs per annum. The placement report revealed an 85% placement rate for computer science engineering students The average salary was highest for the artificial intelligence and data science students of Rs. 8 lakhs per annum. All in all, placement scenario in RTU is good having number and packages in enhancing trend from the year.
