This University is located at Itanagar and is the premier University of the Arunachal Pradesh state for the higher education. RGU was established in the year 1984 and is fully recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is accredited ‘B’ by the NAAC. The NIRF ranking done in the year 2023 ranked RGU between 101-150 among universities in India.
RGU provides Undergraduate, Postgraduate and doctoral courses in arts, Commerce, law, science, Engineering, Education etc It provides facility for B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, B.E/B.Tech, LLB, MBA, M.A, M.Sc and M.Tech etc. Online applications are accepted as well as students can fill the application forms that are available in hard copy. Some programmes of the college have entrance tests in June-July while some have merit basis for admission. The next cycle is expected to be opened in April, May in 2024 for the 2024-25 academic year. The general examination period of the semesters is in November-December and April-May, respectively.
RGU has its placement and training cell where the process of recruitment and internships are made easy for students. A number of reputed companies in the field of IT, banking, manufacturing, education and many more recruit the students through campus interviews held at RGU annually. It is seen that the average placement is more than 75% with the highest salary packages offered up to 12 LPA. The usual companies that hire are Wipro, Infosys, TCS, HDFC bank, ICICI bank, Vedanta, Byjus etc.
