Shivaji University Kolhapur - Admission, Courses, Fees & Rankings 2024

Shivaji University, established in 1962 is a state university located at Kolhapur in Maharashtra. It was established in the year 1962 and currently the university boasts of having more than 200 affiliated colleges. It is worth pointing out that Shivaji University has recently been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and it has been given an ‘A’ grade. The performance of the university in the NIRF ranking system in 2023 is within the band of 151-200 universities.

It provides undergraduate, postgraduate, research courses and diplomas in disciplines such as arts, science, commerce, education, law, management, Pharmacy and Engineering faculties. Some of the major courses for which the admission is offered include BA, BCom, BSc, BEd, LLB, BBA, BCA, BPharm, BE etc. The examinations are conducted in the month of October and May every year. The application procedure for the AY 2024-25 starts in May through online/offline modes for admissions. The admissions are given according to students’ performance in prescribed examinations – HSC and entrance examinations. 

The university currently boasts a functional placement cell where organizations such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Tech Mahindra, etc, seek to recruit students The banking and private sectors have also been known to recruit students; companies like ICICI, HDFC, Yes Bank and others have been known to recruit students for employment. Every year more than 200 organizations take part in the placement programme and around 3000 students get placed through campus interviews. While on the average the salary package being offered in the recent years ranges from 4 to 5 lakhs per annum and the highest salary package is 18 lakhs per annum. The siting has a high average of 75% for placement of all deserved candidates for their courses.

Shivaji University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

Undergraduate (UG)

The basic eligibility condition to join the bachelor’s degree programs is passing the 10+2 examination or any other equivalent examination from any recognized board or university. Some programmes have other requirements such as the marks obtained at the previous level of study.

Postgraduate (PG) 

For application to Master’s degree, candidates must possess relevant UG degree from a recognized University. Certain programs have percentage criteria in UG degree that have to be scored by the candidates.

Diploma

For diploma programs, one needs to pass 10+2 or its equivalent examination for admission. Some diplomas provide an additional condition in the form of work experience in a certain specialty.

Certificate

The prospects of certificate programs are that these are available to 10+2 pass candidates. Some certificates add extra condition such as UG degree or work experience in concerned field.  

Shivaji University Courses Details 2024

Tuition and other fees of the University have differential charges depending on the discipline and the years of study. Fees is relatively affordable at ?5,000 per annum for BA and goes as high as ?75,000 per annum for Engineering degrees on average. Extra charges, if any, for such subjects or hosteller/mess charges are also included in the fee structure. Some discounts on fees are permitted by the government for the students belonging to the reserved category.

Shivaji University Placements 2024

The generations of placements in Shivaji University have certainly witnessed a rising trend in recent years. Several companies have also held campus recruitment exercises in 2022 participating in the exercise offering jobs to students. Information technology firms, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and Cognizant were the major recruiters. The maximum salary package offered was 18 lakh p.a by a IT Services company. The overall remunerations and benefits offered among all the branches were at Rs 6.5 lakh per year. More than 65% of the campus selectable students were placed in this year. The issues that have contributed to enhancement of placement include industrial relevant courses offered in the university, vocational training activities and linkages with industries that reinforce development of relevant skills. Betterment and development of placement infrastructure has also helped facilitate flawlessly the hiring drives coming from the leading recruiters.
