Somaiya Vidyavihar University is a private university that is situated in the city of Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra. It was established in  1959 and the commission from University Grants Commission has acknowledged it. The university has been accredited with Grade A by NAAC in the first cycle itself and also ranked at 104 in NIRF Ranking of 2023. The university is located at a sprawling area of 65 acres having state-of-art infrastructure. University facilitates undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programs in arts, science, commerce, education, engineering, humanities, law, business, mass media, Computer studies and many more. 

University provides more than fifty-five undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated Programs in a wide range of fields. Some of the most sought courses for undergraduates are Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor of Hotel Management & Travel Tourism (BHAM & TT), Bachelor of Arts, Master of Business Management & Computer Applications (BAMMC), and BCom+LLB. The principal postgraduate courses which are available include MBA, MCA, MTech, MA, and MSc. As a university, semester examination is administered twice in a year that is in the month of October and April. The admission application process for the admission in undergraduate courses for the batch 2024 will be starting from 2023 February. 

Somaiya Vidyavihar University has an effective and efficient placement cell that helps the students get internships and placement in leading corporate bodies. More than 100 companies are the recruiters who have provided placements to students of diverse courses in the previous academic year. Companies like HCL Technologies, Infosys, Tata Motors, Deloitte India, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Ford Motor Company, Siemens and L & T Limited have hired candidates from the university through campus placement. The maximum salary offers given in batch 2023 was 39 LPA, the average salary package offered was 7 LPA.
