Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit established in Kerala, at place called Kalady in Ernakulam district. It provides courses in the faculties of Arts, Science, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, Veda, Darshana, and Education streams. Even the minimum requirements for the employees or the candidates are different for different departments. To attend the BA in Sanskrit Literature, Plus Two or equivalent is required for the applicants. The minimum qualification for admission to BSc programs like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology is Plus Two pass in the science group. The BEd program needed graduates in any discipline for them to be allowed in the program, and they must have at least a 50% aggregate. Shastri & Acharya courses under Vyakarana, Sahitya, Vedic Studies have previous qualification as criteria for admissions. All UG programmes have the Kerala Higher Secondary exam or equivalent national/state board examinations as the basis for admission. PG courses admit students who passed their first degree from accredited universities.
The University has total faculties which provides Under Graduate, Post Graduate, doctoral, diploma, certificate in total 30 departments. The main streams of study include the Sanskrit Literature, Veda, Darshana, Ayurveda and Science stream. The blueprint of the academic year is as follows For admissions in 2024: UG/PG examination in May 2024, declaration of results in June 2024, counselling in July 2024. The admission process begins by the release of the application form online as follows, on the University website in February 2024. Test is scheduled to take place at centers in May 2024 yet can be postponed depending on the circumstances. On the basis of entrance/ merit, the desired candidate will be short listed and called for document verification and counseling session. The students who have made it through the list should clear admission formalities by paying fees before the due date.
The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Ernakulam has opened the portal for admission to the different undergraduates and postgraduate courses in Sanskrit literature and related fields. There are two ways through which students can apply for the admission either, online or offline through the website www.ssus.ac.in
For the online application process, please click on the university’s website and navigate to the admission link. Choose from the programs offered and completely fill the online application form with all the necessary information. Scan other required documents and upload them; pay the application fees and finalize the form. After you have completed the application, you can take a print out in future.
For the offline application, you will have to visit the university administrative office to pick a special admission application form. Please complete it in a very careful manner and enclose only certified true copy of the documents stated in the information folder. The above form has to be filled in properly and forwarded to the administrative office with a Demand Draft of the application fees prior to the last date. They come in through the qualifying examinations or the entrance examination if any is in place. - Thus, according to the 50:50 formula which takes into account both the candidate’s past record and the results of the entrance test, a new combined merit list is generated. The rank in this combined merit list is the only criteria of admission to the M.Sc programs, as mentioned below.

1. Students should check the university website or newspaper ad for any changes on M.Sc admissions. They are released mostly in mid summer, though the time may vary depending on the authorities responsible for their release.
2. Choose the M.Sc. program and specialization to apply for. Some of the programs offered for M.Sc include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and so on.
3. Log on to the internet and access the university website to download the application form and prospectus once these are uploaded. And go through essentials like the eligibility criteria the dates etc.
4. In the application form ensure that it is filled competely and details on qualifications, documents and application fees paid are submitted.
5. Enclose photocopies of applicable documents such as degree certificates, mark sheets, and, if applicable, community or caste certificates.
6. Photocopies of all educational documents and the application fee should be attached with the filled up application form and should be submitted to the university office before the deadline. It is possible to pay the application fees online, DD etc.
7. The approval process of your application should also be documented and proof produced and kept. When the application is cleared one can download hall ticket from the site.
8. Take the university entrance examination if applicable and then join counselling /admission process as per timetable and ranking.
- The candidates can be any age and either sex, but should possess a post graduate qualification with minimum 55% marks or its equivalent grade point average. 5% marks relaxation are allowed for SC/ST candidates.
- Students are also expected to meet the university’s entrance examination standards before they can be considered for any candidacy. It assesses knowledge in research skills, specific subject areas and general knowledge.
- Those who are eligible for the written test have to sit for an interview. It evaluates the candidate’s understanding of the subject area of interest, research background and ability, linguistic skills etc.
- The final decision on short-listing looks at the performance in the written test accompanied by an interview, the academic record of the candidate and a research proposal submitted by the candidate on the area of research proposed by him/ her.
- In case of SC/ST/OBC candidates, preferences may be given to the candidates who possess UGC-NET/JRF qualification, published research papers, teaching experience etc.
- Regarding selection in PhD, candidature in different subjects, the universities follow the norms of reservation mainly.
