Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences is one of the premier universities in Guwahati, Assam established with a main aim of providing education and conducting research in the field of health sciences. It was founded in 2009 and is approved by the University Grants Commission of India, UGC and was accredited by the NAAC with grade A. According to the NIRF rankings of the year 2023, the Medical university was 75th in India.
The university provides all levels of study in diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programs in area of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Allied Health Sciences. Major programs include Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Post Graduate Medical Education, Master in Dental Surgery, Master in Public Health, Pharmacy, Diploma in Pharmacy, BSc Nursing, Biomedical Optometry, BPT and MSc Medical Lab. The admission process usually starts in May every year and entrance tests take place in the various institutions. They use competitive exams like NEET, ASSAM-CET and institute level exams for admission. The last date for submission of application also varies and is normally in July. Academic year starts from August - September for all courses depending on the institution.
