Swarnim Gujarat Sports University (SGSU) is a state university and the first of its kind in the nation with exclusive focus on sports education. SGSU is an emerging university which was built in the year 2020 and the University provides instruction and training in the areas of sports and physical education, research, and extension. It is also UGC accredited and has been graded A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2022. The university offers themed emphases on a multitude of various sports disciplines; according to the NIRF Rankings for Universities in 2023, SGSU took the 70th place in India.
It has undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in different fields of specialization that are related to sports such as Physical Education, Sports Coaching, Sports Management, Sports Analytics, Sports Journalism, Sports Nutrition and Physiotherapy. There are physical fitness test conducted by SGSU and GUJCET test in the admission process. Applications may be called typically in March or April for admission in June of the same year.

1. Minimum age of applicant for Diploma courses shall be 17 years while for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs, applicant must be 18 and 20 years respectively on 1st July of admission year.
2. Many Btech courses require 10+2 pass in any stream for diploma programs, 10+2 pass in relevant stream for undergraduate programs and bachelor degree for postgraduate.
3. Students should have participated at the state, and/or national or international sport events approved by SGSU.
4. MUST present all the certificates on sports participation and achievements at the time of admission into the University.
5. Be physically fit and a competent sportsman according to the SGSU sports qualifications and selection criteria.
6. It opens its doors through sporting prowess, academic performance and selection tests administered by the SGSU. All reservations are being done as per government rules and regulations.
Swarnim Gujarat Sports University is one of the prominent universities which provide decent placement for the graduating students every year. Some of the prestigious companies which have recruited students from SSGSU are Adidas, Decathlon, Star sports, Ernst & young, KPMG, Deloitte. The maximum salary package delivered in 2023 was offered by Adidas with INR 18,00,000 per annum. The salary that is offered to the students while they are placed in companies or other organizations is between 4-6 lakhs per annum. Nearly 60% of the students eligible for placements were successfully placed in reputed sports brands, ecommerce portals, sports event management companies, audit firms, etc in the profiles like sports marketing, retails, finance, events, digital media.
