The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) is a centrally funded university, situated in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was founded in the year 1979 under the name of the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages and was given the status of a central university in the year 2007. EFLU has been accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) where it has got ‘A’ grade that demonstrates the quality of education. In the NIRF Rankings 2023 that were recently released, EFLU has been ranked as the 15th university in the country. It is also acknowledged at the national and international level for its English language teaching courses and all the courses in various foreign languages. The university has many humanities and language programs available for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and advanced diploma studies. 

EFLU provides a wide array of programs in language, literature, and humanities such as the BA English Language and Literature, MA Linguistics, MA Comparative Literature and Literary Art, Certificate of Proficiency in English, and several foreign language certifications. One of the requirements for admissions is to sit for the national level written exam. Regarding the dates of important exams for the academic year 2024, the entrance exam for under graduations courses is tentatively scheduled in May, 2024 Whereas, the entrance exam for post graduations courses is tentatively scheduled in June, 2024. The selected candidates can register and fill out the admission procedures in July 2024 for the new academic year starting in August 2024. The students who wish to learn foreign languages at EFLU also have to take a screening test conducted before the entrance test.

1. In order to get admission in the bachelors programs, the candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from any recognized board with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Depends on the discipline that has been applied for. 

2. Candidates must have passed their bachelor’s degree in relevant subject from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks. Certain degree programs require entrance test qualification.

3. For admission to MPhil program, the applicant should have a master’s degree in a related field from any recognized University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate. Entrance test mandatory.

4. To apply for admission in PhD, the candidate must have passed master’s degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the relevant subject from a recognized university. It is also necessary to pass entrance exams, which are always held in simplified and qualifying format. 

5. The minimum requirement for certificate programs is 10+2 examination qualification from a recognized board as per the program. Depending on the tests some of the test qualifications may be needed.

6. Diploma programs recognise 10+2 examination or bachelor’s degree qualification depending on the program and specialization. 50% marks in the aggregate are required as the minimum for admission.
