The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) is one of the premier institutes of the Indian Territory of Chandigarh. UIET was set up in year 2002 only, however, it has been accredited by University Grants Commission and is approved by AICTE. UIET had also done exceptionally well in the NAAC grading system where it scored A++ and in the NIRF Rankings 2023, UIET was ranked 45th among engineering colleges in the country. UIET is an institute that provides undergraduate as well as post graduate level programs in various disciplines of engineering and technology, with the objective to produce technically inclined human resource ready to face the corporate world.

The institute provides many BTech programs Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, etc with a capacity to intake 660 students. Semester based examinations are common for the 4-year programmes, and they are conducted in December and May every year. Admission procedures start from the session 2024 and it involves taking national and state level entrance exams like JEE Main, UIET exam and counselling. In addition to this, MTech and PhD programs are available at UIET in different fields of engineering and technology such as Signal Processing, VLSI Design, Thermal Engineering and many more and the admission for these courses are open from the March 2024.  

UIET has turned into a destination for the premier companies and lucrative job profiles are offered to the graduates due to the strong academic programs and research facility. More than one hundred and fifty companies and MNCs such as Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Bosch, TCS, Infosys, and various top public sectors engage in the on-campus placement process annually. The highest placement offer made for the batch of 2023 was 48 LPA and median package of the batch was 7.2 LPA. In this regard, over 86 percent of the students from the eligible lot secured placements through campus recruitment drives. In the light of UIET achieving 90%+ placement records in the previous academic years, the college has carved its niche as one of the prestigious engineering college in North India.

The university provides more than 90 percent Placement for its students of UIET through Campus Placement Program and every year the leading companies of the country such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant and Accenture visit the campus for the placements. Software giants Microsoft offered the highest salary package of Rs. 42 lakhs per annum in 2021. The salary offered or the salary packages varied from Rs. 6-8 lakhs per annum. Some of the key sectors that participated in the campus recruitment were Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Samsung R&D Institute, Maruti, Hero Motocorp, Bosch, Bajaj Auto, etc., and among these many mechanical engineering and production engineering jobs were offered.
