University of Burdwan, Bardhaman, West Bengal is a university that offers Ph.D. programs in all the faculties. In a nutshell, there are certain requirements that must be met before one can be admitted to carry out PhD studies in a certain department. For example, for the post of Teaching Assistant in the Department of Bengali, candidate should have a Master’s degree in Bengali with at least 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA, for the post of PhD in the Department of Bengali. Eligible standardized tests include both NET, SET, or SLET in the respective subject. To qualify for admission into a PhD programme in the Department of Physics, the candidate must have passed his/her MSc in Physics with at least 60% marks or its equivalent grade. The norms for admissions are that the candidate can either take NET, GATE or may take the Test conducted by the university. Some other departments that provide education and offer Ph.D. programs are the department of chemistry, commerce, computer science, economics, education, English, history, mathematics, philosophy, and sanskrit.
