Utkal University is a state university that is situated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and it has come into existence in the year 1943. It is affiliated to the University Grants Commission and has NAAC ‘A’ grade accreditation from the National Association of Accreditation of Colleges. As per NIRF rankings in 2023, the University was accorded 76th position out of all universities in the country. It is a large coeducational research university that provides education at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in multiple fields through 17 schools and 30 departments. Utkal University now has 150 colleges affiliated to it in Odisha.
This university teaches different courses from the humanities, commerce, Science, Law, Education, Business administration and computer science among others. These programs are offered by various universities across the country and the admission to these programs is given based on state level or national level entrance exams and Counselling. The important tests are OJEE, CMAT & NET, and the courses available are B.Tech, MBA & PhD respectively. The semesters examinations are conducted twice a year in the month of November December and in April May respectively. According to the current curriculum, the end semester exams for existing batches are likely to be conducted in April-May 2023.

Utkal University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
Bachelor's programs: Applicants need to clear the 10+2 examinations with an overall of 50% of marks. Certain courses like Engineering/Pharmacy has additional admission requirements that need to be fulfilled.
Master's programs: The candidate should have passed bachelor’s degree in any related field with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Certain programs like MBA/MCA have extra qualifying exams that the students must undertake.
MPhil programs: The candidate must have a Master’s degree in the relevant field and should have obtained at least 55% of the total marks in the degree examination. Candidate also needs to pass the entrance test conducted by Utkal University for getting admission in the respective course.
PhD programs: Minimum of a Master’s degree in the subjects related to the research area with at least 55% marks in aggregate. Entrance test and interview is conducted by the Utkal University and the candidate has to qualify these tests.
