Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (UBKV) is one of the agricultural universities situated at Cooch Behar District of West Bengal. It was established in 2001 and obtained the status of the University with the recognition of the University Grants Commission and it has also been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B++ grade. NIRF 2023 Rank:- The University under the agricultural universities category has been placed at 101-150 in NIRF Ranking. The university is comprised with undergraduate, postgraduate and PHD courses and Faculties such as agriculture, horticulture, agricultural engineering, basic sciences and many more. The college serves over 3000 students and is committed to offer quality agricultural learning as well as training to produce manpower. 

Diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses are awarded by the university across disciplines such as BSc Agriculture, MSc Horticulture, BTech Agricultural Engineering, among others While the admission process takes place in May to allow for the next academic year that begins in July. Admissions through entrance examination that is held in June-July and the counselling sessions are held for the students to facilitate the admissions. The admission process for the 2024 batch will be as per the current course, with all the important dates, including the exams, to be announced on the official website of the institution shortly.

It also has an independent placement and training cell for providing internship and placements including reputed companies. Major recruiting companies are NABARD, UPL, Dhanuka, Paradeep Phosphates, IFFCO, Primary and Seed Productions companies such as Pepsi, Parle, Dabur etc. Placement has been good in which graduates have been offered average salary packages of Rs 5-8 lakhs per annum through campus placements. Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. A candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology/Agriculture as the main subjects for admission to undergraduate programs 45% for SC/ST/OBC categories.  

2. For the postgraduate programs, the candidates must have passed the bachelor’s degree from any recognized university/institute in the relevant field such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Fisheries, Veterinary Sciences etc. with a minimum of 50% marks for general category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC applicants.

3. University also provides some of the diploma and certificate courses and of which the candidate may have to meet different requirements hence the need for checking the course requirements carefully.  

4. It is also worthy to point how there are concession in terms of marks by 5% for candidates coming from the rural background as well as female candidates in most of the programs. Candidates with disabilities are also given 5 percent chances percent relaxation.

5. As for applying, the candidates have to register on the university’s admission portal using a registered mobile number, fill an application form and upload necessary documents such as Mark Sheets/Certificates, and Category Certificates if necessary.  

6. The regulation about the admission is that the candidates must have good grades in their previous academic performance and may sit for a university entrance examination if any. Candidate category for reserved category also plays an important factor in determining the seats to be allocated in compliance with the government rules.

Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (UBKV) is located at Cooch Behar and was established in 2001 to provide Bachelors as well as Masters and Ph.D programs in agricultural science and technology. It has vision to enhance the productivity of agriculture in the northern part of West Bengal by education, research and extension. 

The University of Agricultre, Dera friend Khan offers both honours and ordinary bachelors degree in the faculties of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agribusiness Management, Sericulture and Food Technology. IAAS postgraduate programmes include: Master of Agronomy, Master of Plant Pathology, Master of Plant Breeding, Master of Horticulture, Master of Agricultural Extension, Master of Agroforestry, Master of Forestry, Master of Sericulture, Master of Agriculture Biotechnology, Master of Animal Biotechnology, Master of Agricultural Economics, Master of Soil Science and Master of Agricultural Statistics. Also, there are around 30 disciplines in which one can obtain a PhD degree.

The university has a placement cell which helps students get placed by various hirers through campus interviews. The reputed organizations which recruits the students of UBKV are Rallis India, UPL, DuPont, Mahindra Agri, Nuziveedu Seeds, Krishidhan Seeds, etc. The highest salary package offered through campus placements can go up to Rs 8-9 lakhs per annum and the average salary package of UBKV lies between Rs 4-6 lakhs per annum. On an average On-campus recruitment drives help students to get placed by 60 to 70 percent. The demand for MSc Agriculture and BSc Agriculture is higher in the industry, as a result; the placement rate is also higher compared to other programs.
