Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV) is a state university established to address the needs of agriculture in Parbhani, Maharashtra, India. It was established in the year 1972 and is located in the name of Vasantrao Naik, an erstwhile Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The VNMKV is recognized by the University Grant Commission and is having NAAC accreditation with an ‘A’ grade. In the NIRF ranking 2023, VNMKV was the 61st among agricultural universities across India. 

It provides under graduate and post graduate education in the faculties of agriculture, agricultural engineering, home science and sciences and basic science and more. The main courses include Bsc Agriculture, Btech Agricultural Engineering, Master of Science in Agriculture, Master of Business Administration in Agribusiness and Doctor of Philosophy Programs. Many reputed agriculture conglomerates of India recruit students from VNMKV through campus placement and the placement record is remarkable. Some of the recruiters are Godrej Agrovet, Mahindra Agri Solutions, PI Industries, Rallis India etc Some of the recruiters who visited the campus in placement year 2022 are more than 80 and many of them selected graduates as well as post graduates. The placement rate was up to expectations: the maximum salary offered was Rs 18,000 per month and the average salary was Rs 7,000 per month. Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. The minimum requirement expected from a candidate seeking admission to undergraduate programmes is to have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination in Science/Agriculture/Commerce stream with not less than 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates).

2. For postgraduate programs, candidates need to have passed B.Sc Agriculture or any other related stream with minimum 50% of the marks in aggregate, for general category candidates, and 45% for the reserved category candidates.  

3. Every candidate seeking admission for Ph.D programs should have passed Master Degree in the relevant subject with minimum of 55% marks or cleared NET/SLET/GATE as per the university standard.

4. Age bar of 45 years in PG and 50 years in PhD level have been fixed with the privilege for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates according to the Govt. of India norms.  

5. The admission process at the university requires that for some of the programs, the university sets its own entrance examinations while for others, candidates are admitted based on their preparedness in certain examinations such as GATE/CAT/MAT.

6. In addition to course-based standards, other requirements or standard necessary for one to qualify include those based on nationality, domicile status, or state of origin based on the set requirements for the various programs.

Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth or VNMKV is a state university dedicated to agricultural education and research situated in Parbhani, Maharashtra was established in the memory of the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra the Late Shri Vasantrao Naik. It has a number of UG and PG courses in eight affiliated colleges and three research stations. 

Some of the main courses taught at VNMKV are BSc in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agri-Business Management, Food Science, Agricultural Engineering etc. The MSc programmes offered by the university are over twenty specializations in agricultural and allied sciences such as Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Entomology, Seed Science, Agricultural Economics etc. An MTech course in Agricultural Engineering is also offered by VNMKV. Moreover, VNMKV has incorporated degree programs resulting in the award of B Tech. /M Tech. /MBA degrees. 

It has merit-based admissions with the state-level test while the university is largely centered on its teaching capacity and research. The annual course fee for UG courses is between INR 9000-Inr32000 and for PG and integrated courses INR 14000- INR22000. It has limited hostel facilities available and it also has a few scholarships for needy students especially those from farming backgrounds.

Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth was able to provide job placements in well-established organizations related to agriculture and other relevant fields. Some of the major recruiters for the chemical plant industry are: ITC, Godrej Agrovet, UPL, Nufarm, and PI Industries among others. The maximum package obtained in the placement drive of 2022 were Rs 10.8 lakhs per annum from ITC. The salary offered to the candidates is moderate to reasonable ranging between 4 to 6 lacs per annum. The students from BSc Agriculture which participated in the placement process got 103 offers in total, meaning that the placement ratio was 85%. The placement cell continuously provides training sessions for the students so that they can develop employability skills and be an ideal talent pool for the recruiters for agribusiness and food technology. Other related activities also support placement at the university as provided in the memorandum of understanding with industry players.
