The National Institute of Fashion Technology New Delhi is a specialized University that offers Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programs in 15 Specializations such as Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Textile Design, Accessory Design, Knitwear Design, Leather Design and Apparel Production. For admission in BDes programs a candidate has to pass written examination of NIFT which measures creativity, general awareness, English language proficiency, quantitative ability and communication skills. Candidates for MDes and MFM undergo an additional examination in the form of a situation test and personal interview for those who made it to the shortlist. The requirement for eligibility is different for different programs, for the BDes, the candidate must be 10+2 passed with minimum 50% aggregate marks for the general category.
NIFT Delhi has a total of 35 programs in various fields of design and arts including design, management and technology. Some of the major programmes are: B.Des (Bachelor of Design) in Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication / Fashion & Apparel Merchandising BFM (Bachelor of Fashion Management) M.Des (Master of Design) MFT (Master of Fashion Technology) MFM (Master of Fashion Management) MA (Master of Arts in Fashion Marketing & Merchandising). The entrance exam for the BDes programs in the year 2024 is yet to be announced but generally the entrance examination is conducted in the 1st week of January every year. First round counseling is conducted in the end of May / June when the results of the entrance exam is declared. It is based on the combination of written examination, situation test, creative ability test and counseling process. The schedule for admissions and dates may be seen in the NIFT admission calendar that is to be provided on the official site of NIFT.
There are two ways to complete the application; one is the online application link and the other is through the offline link. For online application submission, the candidate has to visit its official website namely www.nift.ac.in and navigate to the ‘Admissions’ link. It is here that you make your choice as to which NIFT campus you would like to gain admission into and the programme of your choice. Before moving forward, read through the candidate requirements and admission procedures very carefully. Step 1- interested applicants have to first sign up on the online portal using their email ID and password. Complete the application form by indicating true personal and academic information.
Scanned copies of the documents needed such as photograph and signature etc., has to be uploaded Online payment mode: credit/debit card/net banking for the application fee. In case of Offline application you can download the prospectus from the official website of NIFT and get the application form. Complete it very slowly and carefully and attach the whole set of documents and Demand Draft towards the fee for the campus you have applied before the last date. Originally, NIFT conducts a written entrance examination for the admission of its undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes in different campuses. Applicants proposed for the position have to sit for Situation Test and Personal Interview sessions.
Process for filling up of Admission Form online Read the instructions carefully before filling up the form:
1. Entrance Exam: All the candidates have to write the NIFT entrance examination, which is an important requirement for the admission process. This exam measures general intelligence, creativeness and written and oral expression. The entrance examination which is conducted by the University forms part of the admission criteria for a candidate and is weighted at 50 % in the overall performance .
2. Personal Interview: Candidates who have qualified the entrance exam are given a call for a written test or interview. The interview determines the applicant’s ability and perception of the design profession in terms of creativity. Interview carries 15% weightage.
3. Academic Scores: Score in 10+2 exams in science stream major subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology/ Technical Subjects etc. The weight age given to this criterion is 15%. Other subjects relevant to a vocational course may also be taken into consideration.
4. Creative Ability Test: Applicants to be recruited for the shortlisted positions are required to write a Creative Ability Test to determine their ability to handle materials and to come up with innovative ideas, symmetries and observation. This test is in the form of MCQs and the score obtained in this test is multiplied by 15/100 to get the percentage.
5. Group Discussion: The other assessment that the short-listed candidates are required to undergo is the group discussion activity that is used to assess communication, interactive and initiating skills. This has 5% weightage.

2. It’s simple; on the form, locate the “Apply Now” button then click on it, you will be taken to the application page. To start with, users must first register themselves by creating a login ID and password.
3. Complete the application form to the best of your ability providing all your relevant details, including the personal details, academic details and your program/campus preferences.
4. Upload scanned images of photograph and signature as well as the class 10 and 12 mark sheets, etc. as given by the specifications.
5. Make the payment of the application fee also either through credit/debit card or through Net banking or through UPI. The fee for general category is ?2500/. The fee for General category is ? 2500/-
6. Thus, the form is ready to be downloaded, filled, and printed for the record. Upload the completed form on the Internet.
7. After filling out this form successfully, you will get a confirmation note that the submission was successful.
1. Admission Test- The candidates need to pass through the NIFT entrance examination that assesses skills in general ability, communication ability, quantitative ability, analytical ability, and awareness about fashion and design industry.
2. Creative Ability Test- When selecting employees, short-listed performers of the written test are assessed for creativity within the situation test. It appraises qualities like colour sense, aesthetic sense, perceptive ability and so on.
3. Interview - Qualified candidates are interviewed after passing the written test and creative ability test. The interview also tests the candidate on his or her ability to think creatively, solve problems, be aware of the environment and suitability for fashion technology career.
4. Academics- For final merit ranking, the entrance exam is given 50% weightage, creative ability test–30% weightage, while the interview weightage is 10%. The next component is class 12th /qualifying examination marks for which 10% weightage is given.
5. Final Selection- This means that the candidates are offered admission for the final merit ranks until the number of vacancies available in the university is exhausted. There are merit lists for different programs/campuses and they are all prepared individually.

2. First, you should create an account and set your login ID and password. Some of the fields that you need to fill in the application form include personal and contact information, academic information and other information as may be required.
3. Scanned copy of the photograph, signature, class 10 and 12 mark sheets, and any other document, if required as per rules.
4. NIFT New Delhi as your preferred campus/institute of choice. While applying for the different campuses, a candidate can choose his or her preferred options in order of preference on a single application form.
5. In case of paying the application fee, one can do it online through credit card, debit card, or internet banking. General Category students have to pay a fee of Rs 2500.
6. Save and retain a photocopy of the application form which should have the payment coupon number on it.
7. This means that once you have made a submission, you cannot withdraw your application or change any information that was provided thus fill carefully. One should expect his/her incomplete applications to be rejected.
8. This can also be obtained from the admission portal where the candidates should frequently check for updates or information concerning the examination calendar and format. The candidates that make it to the final selection have to give a written exam conducted by the NIFT.
