This is a state university in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India offering undergraduate and postgraduate studies. It has affiliation from the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India and is accredited with ‘A’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In the NIRF ranking in 2023, Anna University stands at 28 among Universities in India.
The university provides the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in different branches of engineering, technology, architecture and applied sciences. Some of the streams include B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, MBA, M.E, M.Arch. The flow chart of the admission process for the 2024 batch of students will begin from May 2023. This is because applicants will be required to sit for the TANCET exams and the counseling sessions in order to gain admission. The end semesters are held in the month of November December 2023 and the results of end semester examination are likely to be declared in the month of January 2024. As per the tentative academic calendar, the odd semester examinations will be conducted in the month of April and May in the year 2024.
Anna University has a strong placement and internship policy in which many companies conduct recruitment every year. The major companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), Infosys, HCL, Accenture, International Business Machines (IBM), Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, and Dell visit the college for placements of the students. In the same year, business organisation conducted campus placements with over 500 organisations, and over 85% of the students got placed with average salary starting from ?3.5 lakhs per annum to ?12 lakhs per annum. The maximum number of offers given was for the salary package of up to ?29.5 lakhs per annum. A majority of the students get recruited for IT/Software jobs. Nevertheless, many students also prefer to seek employments in core engineering areas such as construction, manufacturing, automation, research & analysis, etc. Some of the students also pursue their M.Tech. / M.E. / Ph.D. from India or other countries.
Anna University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
Engineering: Applicants must have completed their 12th standard (or similar) with an average of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It has also been relaxed for the students belonging to the reserved categories of students.
Architecture: Candidate must be passed 12th standard with Mathematics as compulsory subject. No minimum aggregate percentage shall be mandatory for any of the classifications aforesaid. Selection would also be based on their marks obtained in the 12th standard as well as NATA score.
MBA: A candidate should have passed the final examination of any recognized university securing a minimum of 50% marks. Relaxation for reserved categories. Another common admission procedure is the entrance tests like TANCET for MBA admissions.
MCA: Minimum qualification with a Bachelor’s degree in any field and Must have Mathematics at 10+2 level or in graduation. candidate should have a minimum aggregate of 50% in their respective course/degree, if any relaxation in percentage then it will be as per norms. Admissions are also done through an entrance examination.
M.Sc: A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the relevant specialty. It must be noted that the candidates must have a least of 50% aggregates marks throughout the course, but the criteria for the reserved categories follow the rule of regulation. Some programs may be subject to an entrance test.

Anna University is renowned university in India for offering engineering education and it has been placing its students in reputed companies across the world. At Anna University, campus interviews for job placements were conducted in 2022 and more than 9,500 students were placed through over 300 companies.
