Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) is one of the state universities situated in the city of Guwahati of the state of Assam. It has been founded in 2010 and has a clear emphasis on science, engineering and technology education. ASTU is recognised by the University Grants Commission of India (UGC) and affiliated to the Government of Assam. It has received grade ‘B’ accreditation by the NAAC and is placed in the NIRF ranking of 2023 in the category of universities as falling under 101-150.
ASTU has a number of disciplines in both undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Basic Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. Some of the large focal areas are computers and software engineering, electronics and communication, mechanical, civil, pharmaceutical, chemical, physics and mathematics. The admission for the 2024 batch will be done on the basis of the marks obtained in the state level entrance test or national level test like JEE Mains & GATE depending on the course.

Assam Science and Technology University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. Students who have completed their 10+2 examinations in the science stream are eligible and must have obtained a minimum of 60% to enroll for an undergraduate program.
2. It’s preferred to have a bachelor’s degree in the related stream with at least 60% marks for postgraduate degrees.
3. Some programs may require candidates to have passed the JEE Main, GATE, and other such national/ state level examinations.
4. State Quota: The College takes 85% of seats for the students of Tamil Nadu only and the rest 15% seats are all India Quota.
5. It may also vary depending on SC/ST/OBC/other reserved category relaxation in cutoff according to government rules.
6. Extra requirements including an entrance exam, interview, for particular courses as the university may provide.
Assam Science and Technology University Placements 2024
ASTU has been able to secure excellent placements. Many MNCs like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, IBM, and Capgemini themselves come for campus selection once a year to recruit students. The maximum salary offered during the placement drive conducted for the batch of 2023 was 16 lakhs per annum which was offered by TCS. The salary package offered to the candidates is moderate, and it may vary between 4,00,000 to 6,00,000 per annum. About 40% students get selected in campus interviews and the rest either go in for higher studies or for other positions. The placement cell constantly arranges training sessions on aptitude tests, group discussions, and interviews so students can perform well during recruitment processes of companies for engineering, IT and management graduates, such as Bosch, L&T, HDFC Bank that offer competitive salaries.
