Azim Premji University is an Indian private not-for-profit University specialized in education and development in Bangalore. This university was set up in the year 2010 and was initiated by the Azim Premji Foundation and is named after its founder and the chairman of Wipro Corporation Azim Premji who has donated a major chunk of his wealth to develop this institution.

This University is accredited by the UGC and is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade and a CGPA of 3.53. The Azim Premji University stands at the 13th position in the NIRF ranking system in the year 2023 among university in India. It provides undergraduate, postgraduate as well as PhD courses in education, development, policy, economics and others.

Azim Premji University has a wide variety of courses offering including masters in Education, masters in Development, masters in Economics, post graduate diploma in Development Practice, and Integrated Bachelors and Masters in Education. The admission process is available for the academic year 2024 in which students have to register themselves online and complete the Azim Premji Aptitude Test while the final selection is done in the interview round. No exams have been scheduled to be held up till now for the 2024 batch of admission. The University functions in semester wise mode and examinations are held in the offline mode at the end of each semester.

Azim Premji University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. Bachelor’s and Master’s programs need the acquisition of a first degree with at least pass or 50% or its equivalent from an accredited university. Certain programs also have such requirements as work experience in a given line of specialization.

2. Documents needed for applying to Ph.D. or PDF are a master degree with 55% marks or equivalent grade. Some research programs also require a pass in the entrance examination with certain minimum standard scores. 

3. These are open to all Class 12 passed students with cut-off marks between 70 percent to 90 percent depending on the course of study. 

4. According to the current regulation for admission in the teacher education programs, the applicants need to complete the B.El.Ed/B.A. B.Ed/B.Sc. The applicants must hold a B.Ed with at least 50% aggregate mark.  

5. International applicants should possess qualifications from an institution in their home country, equivalent to the corresponding foreign degree in the respective program of study, with English language proficiency test scores as well.

6. The eligibility criteria specify that for admission to the bachelors and masters course, the student must be atleast 20 years of age while for the doctoral programs, the candidate must be atleast 25 years of age as on the 1st of July of the year of admission.

Azim Premji University has been following this policy and more than 90 percent of the students are placed through Campus Recruitment every year. Some of the major recruiters are Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, ICICI Bank, IDFC First Bank, Flipkart etc. The maximum stipend of the students in the year 2021 was Rs 32.4 lakhs per annum and the median stipend worth Rs 10.9 lakhs per annum. The median salary was another aspect that also saw a pretty good growth of 10% in the year 2021 as compared to the year 2020. Some of the major areas offering jobs to students include consulting firms, development, education, financial, technology and e-commerce industries.
