Mount Carmel College for Women is a leading women’s college in the city of Bangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is a Catholic Institution for women founded in 1948 and managed by the Sisters of the Carmelite Religious Order and is also an autonomous institution affiliated with Bangalore University. The college has received Grade A accreditation from NAAC, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.62 on a 4 point scale. According to NIRF rankings 2023 that have just been released, Mount Carmel College has been placed at the 13th position among all the colleges in India.
It is a collegiate university that is involved in the provision of undergraduate, postgraduate and even doctorate education in a variety of fields including sciences, commerce, humanities and even management. Some of the main courses offered at this level are BSc in basic sciences, BCom with major in accounting, finance, business, BSc in economics, psychology, journalism and so on. These courses offer admissions based on performance achieved in entrance exams/qualifying exams. These include the Business Management and Accounting (BBM), Computer Science and IT (BCA) and postgraduate programmes. The intake capacity of the college is approximately around 2500 students. The dates for examinations are set and informed to the students as per the schedules of respective universities. It is normally carried out in May every year when the institution is prepared to admit students for the new academic session starting in June/July.
