The BR Ambedkar Bihar University is state university located in Muzaffarpur Bihar India. It was founded in the year 1970 and occupies a vast area of 180 acres of the campus. It has been accredited by NAAC, where the university has achieved the grade B in the year 2022. As per NIRF ranking, BR Ambedkar Bihar University is ranked 150 under the Universities category in the year 2023. 

The university is a co-educational institution with programs in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in various fields of study comprising arts, science, commerce, law, teacher education, agriculture, engineering & technology, among others. Some of the most commonly offered programs at the university include the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Technology and many other programs. Timing of examination is different in each program, which takes place in October / November, for odd semesters and April / May for even semesters. The admission takes place in May of every year where the Under graduate programs are offered through state level entrance test and counselling for the Under graduate programs while the Post graduate programs are offered strictly on merit basis on the basis of national /state level tests.

BR Ambedkar Bihar University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. As for the undergraduate programs like BA, BSc, BCom etc., the candidate should have cleared the 10+2 or any other equivalent examination from any recognized board for admission. There are certain standard requirements depending on the subject and the minimum percentage required from the programs.  

2. Candidates who want to join postgraduate courses such as MA, MSc, MCom, should have relevant undergraduate credentials in the same or a related field from a recognized university, and with minimum aggregate scores of 40-60% depending on the course.

3. The eligibility criteria vary from program to program; however general category students require minimum aggregates of around 50% in the qualifying examination while the students belonging to the reserved category are provided with a leeway of 5-10% in minimum eligibility criterion.

4. However, there are slight differences in the eligibility criteria for qualifying examination, subject and minimum marks in case of some programmes like LLB and Integrated programmes, which can be checked from the university’s website or the prospectus.

5. There are extra prerequisites such as entrance tests, interviews, certificates, domicile requirements etc which are required for some programs for which one has to check for before applying.

The BR Ambedkar Bihar University or BRA Bihar University is located in Bihar and provides Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, and Doctoral courses in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Education and Management. Some of the courses offered include undergraduate and post graduate programs such as BA, BSc, BCom, MA, MSc, MCom, MBA,BEd, LLB, PhD among others as well as diplomas.

Currently, the University has colleges over 200 that offer these programs. As for the procedure, there is a merit-based admission for some of the programs, and for others, there is an entrance test. It is important to note that the amount of seats that intake students differs with the specific program and college.
