Central Institute of Technology (CIT), often cited as Assam’s premier engineering and management institute, is stationed at Kokrajhar in the north eastern state of Assam. CIT was started in 2006 and is a AICTE approved college and is also affiliated to the Government of Assam. NAAC has given it a Grade A status, and it is recognized for its quality education. For the NIRF rankings of 2023, CIT stands at 150th position among engineering colleges in India.  

The following programs of studies are available at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in various fields in CIT. CIT, for admissions to the year 2024, provides BTech degrees in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering by conducting its entrance tests at state and national levels. It also provides MTech, MCA and MBA courses to the students to make them capable enough to face the competitive world. This scenario entails the following steps of admission: sitting for relevant entrance examination, obtaining cut off marks, attending counseling and lastly, getting admission.

Central Institute of Technology Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. Applicants who have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination in science stream with minimum 60% marks in PCM will be preferred. 

2. Separate 60% marks have been prescribed in mathematics in the 10+2 or equivalent examination for the applicants. 

3. For the students of SC/ST category it is necessary to secure minimum 55% marks in PCM subject in 10+2 or equivalent examination.

4. Lateral entry is open to contenders who have completed their diploma in engineering or technology with a pass percentage of 60% or more in aggregate.  

5. Final year B.Sc degree holders with Mathematics as one of the subjects and those who secured 60% of marks on aggregate can also apply.

6. The candidates belonging to persons with disability category can avail 5% relaxation in the eligibility norms. Candidate should have a valid score in JEE Main or any State Level Engineering Entrance Examination.

Training and placements play a significant role in the Central Institute of Technology where the training and placement cell is in charge of ensuring that students get placed in various programs. More than eighty companies conduct campus recruitment drives every year and extend employment opportunities for IT professionals, manufacturing, automobile industries and other fields. Some top companies that hire professional are Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, and Mahindra with an average package offered from INR 400000 to INR 600000 per annum. The maximum salary package provided in the year 2024 is 18 lakh per annum from American Express. More than 85 percent of the student got placed in various sectors last year as per the data available from the college.
