The English and Foreign Languages University, often abbreviated as EFLU, is a central university in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. This university was established in the year 1997 and is specifically focused on teaching English and foreign languages; it is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC). According to NIRF India Rankings in 2023, the English and Foreign Languages University has secured 57th position. It came out with flying colours with an ‘A’ grade accreditation by NAAC and a CGPA 3.23 on the four point scale.

EFLU courses are presented in various fields of study such as undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil, and PhD with the schools and departments including School of English Language Education, School of English Language Studies, Centre for European and Latin American Studies, Centre for Canadian Studies, Centre for Arabic and African Studies and others. Major courses available are BA – English, MA – English, M.Phil – English, Ph.D – English, MA – Communication and Journalism etc. The admission process usually starts in March for PG and UG courses with limited seats available for admission. The entrance exam is taken normally in May-June; thereafter, interviews and group discussions are conducted.

1. Specific requirements of the universities For BA programs, 12th pass in any stream with minimum 50% marks. English is a compulsory subject to be done in 12th standard.

2. For MA programs, graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks are necessary. English has to be one of the subjects towards graduation level. 

3. For MPhil programs, postgraduate degree in English or english allied subject with minimum 55% mark from any university. 

4. For admission in PhD programs the candidate must have postgraduate degree in English or an allied discipline with 55% marks and should have cleared the entrance test conducted by the EFLU.

5. For diploma holders, 10+2 pass in any stream with minimum 50% for diploma courses and for other courses 10+2 pass with minimum 50% marks. No specific subject requirements. 

6. For certificate programs, the candidate should have passed 10 plus 2 from any stream with minimum 50 % marks. No specific subject requirements. There may be other requirements that may be rung in addition to the above stated conditions.
