English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) is one of the new generation central universities in the country and is situated in Hyderabad, Telangana. This institution was founded in 1958 under the name of the Central Institute of English. EFLU has NAAC accreditation and has ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). According to NIRF Rankings 2023 for university, EFLU stands at 28th rank among the universities in India. 

EFLU was established as a pioneer institution to offer under graduate, post graduate, doctoral and diploma courses in languages, literatures, linguistics, translation and allied disciplines. Among these, some of the courses are BA English, MA English, MA Applied Linguistics, MA Comparative Literature, MA Journalism & Mass Communication, PhD in various disciplines, etc The admission process begins in February every year, and the entrance examination generally takes place in May. The tentative dates for the examination for the admission year 2024 are still not declared but will soon be available on the university website.  

The placement record of EFLU is very good because of the specialized streams offered by it. Many renowned companies like Genpact ,Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Concentrix, HSBC, Deloitte, Google and many more companies from IT sector prefer EFLU for content writing, translation, interpretation, communication and such other related jobs. The salary packets offered vary from 4-8 Lakhs to 16 Lakhs per annum on average. Placement rate is very high approximately 70 percent of the eligible students get placed every year. Some of the regular recruiters are UN, British Council, UIDAI, Embassy of France, Apollo Hospitals etc Some of the regular companies which visit our campus are Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, HCL, HP, and Deloitte etc The university also provides a good placement for the students who wish to go for higher studies like UGC NET, GATE, Civil Services etc.

English and Foreign Languages University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. Bachelor's Programs: Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 50% aggregates. No age limit. English is to be taken in the 10+2 standard.

2. Master's Programs: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field, and the applicant must have completed at least 50% of the course. English is compulsory to be taken in either Bachelor’s course or in 10+2. No age limit. 

3. MPhil Programs: Pass in Master’s degree in respective discipline with 55 % of aggregate marks. Candidates have to clear the entrance examination and the interview.  No age limit.

4. PhD Programs: Possess Master degree with 55% marks or Master’s degree in the relevant field, MPhil degree is acceptable as well. The candidates interested should be able to meet the entrance test and interview. It checks whether the specified research area is feasible or not for the proposed research.  No age limit.  

5. Certificate Programs: SSC ‘O’ level or equivalent test passing certificate. English has to be one of the subjects that the students have studied at 10+2 level. Sample must have passed the entrance test.

6. Diploma Programs: Any first Degree with any field of specialization. This means that there are certain academic requirements that must be met before one can gain entrance into any of the mentioned institutions, which includes passing an entrance test. English required: English should be a minimum of a high school level.
