The Faculty of Basic Sciences at Shoolini University Solan comprises of departments such as Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Zoology among others. The requirement of the eligibility also differs with these departments. For Biotechnology, one has to clear the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Maths as subjects with at least 50% marks in aggregate. The admission is based on Shoolini Test, JEE Main, NEET scores etc. For Botany, it requires 10+2 pass in Science stream and for Chemistry, it requires 10+2 pass with Chemistry as one of the subjects. Maths requires 10+2 pass with maths as one of the subjects. The same eligibility can be said for Microbiology, Physics and Zoology departments as well.

Some of the BSc programs are Physics The Admission Requirement is The scored from exams like JEE Mains, Shoolini Entrance Test, HPSEE, Physics, Chemistry, Maths in 12th with 50% aggregate marks. The BSc Chemistry course requires JEE Mains, Shoolini test, HPSEE scores and 12th Chemistry as a subject with 50% marks. The Mathematics BSc accepts exams like JEE Mains, Shoolini test and requires Maths in 12th with 50%. Shoolini University Solan has organized its Faculty of Basic Sciences into various departments offering PhD programs in Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, and Zoology. The requirements for admission into a PhD program calls for candidates to have completed their postgraduate degree with a minimum aggregate of fifty-five percent. Certain departments also require national level qualifying examinations such as CSIR-NET, GATE or its equivalent. For the Biotechnology, Microbiology and Zoology departments, NET is considered, whereas for the Botany department, either NET or GATE is acceptable. The Chemistry department has provision for admission through GATE/NET or equivalent examination.
The University offers both full time and part time PhD programmes in twelve Disciplines including Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Disaster Mitigation & Management, Environmental Science, Horticulture, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Remote Sensing & GIS Application and Zoology.
