Gulbarga University is a public university in the city of Gulbarga in the Indian state of Karnataka, established in 1980 under Gulbarga University Act. Occupying the area of 860 acres of the campus, it has 37 post-graduate departments and 4 research institutes. The University is recognized by the UGC – University Grants Commission and accredited by NAAC–National Assessment and Accreditation Council with ‘A’ Grade. According to the NIRF Rankings 2023, it was placed between 101 to 150 rank in the list of universities in India.

The university provides a range of courses of study in various fields and subjects in the area of science, business management, arts, social sciences and technology. Some of the courses includes M.Sc. in science, technology, arts, and management such us Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Microbiology and MBA, MCA, M.A. in Economics, Sociology, Political Science among others. The admission to the PG programs is done through online mode where the student has to apply by filling the form and by attaching the necessary documents. It also acknowledges the scores of state level entrance exams like KMAT/PGCET for the admission to the college. Eligibility includes entrance scores, qualifying exam marks, and personal interviews to choose the candidates.

Gulbarga University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. For admission to the undergraduate courses in, the candidates must have passed 10 plus 2 or an equivalent examination in the 10 + 2 pattern from any recognized board. 

2. For postgraduate programs, candidates are required to have a valid degree of bachelor in the subject with minimum percentage prescribed by the university.

3. For admission in Ph.D. and other research programs, candidates need to have postgraduate degree in the concerned subject and must have secured minimum 55% marks in the examination.

4. Age of the contestants and percentage of eligibility relaxed for the reserved category contestants are subject to the norms set by the government for the particular category.  

5. Foreign candidates should possess the academic qualification that is recognized by either: Association of Indian Universities or any other competent authority.

6. Other initial conditions such as entrance test requirements may also be imposed for certain programs in accordance with the existing university policies.

Gulbarga University Placements 2024

Gulbarga University has a well functioning placement cell that helps seeking placements for the students of the University every year. To name a few of the companies, some of the frequent recruiters who visit the campus are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Accenture. Cognizant offered internships in 2024 placement session and the highest salary package offered was Rs. 12 lakh per annum. Thus, the average salary package offered in the companies was around Rs. 6 lakh per annum. There were over 60 companies that came for campus recruitment in the year 2024, and more than 85 percent of the students who were eligible for placement were placed through campus recruitment. The placement cell also helps the students in off-campus drives and preparation by providing training in aptitude, technical, and soft skills to mould them accordingly to face the companies.
