Guru Nanak Dev University or GNDU is an established university in Amritsar, Punjab, India which is a state university. Founded in 1969, GNDU is situated in a sprawling 500-Acre campus and has been bestowed with the prestigious ‘A’ Grade by NAAC(National Assessment and Accreditation Council). On the NIRF ranking system of universities in India of the year 2023, GNDU was ranked 55th. The university has a wide choice of more than 225 courses in sciences, arts, languages, education, law, medicine, engineering and technology in undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels. There are more than twenty thousand enrolled students of GNDU as it has divided into ten faculties in sixty teaching departments.
GNDU is recognized for several undergraduate and postgraduate course that it offers within various disciplines. Some of the general course offered include the Btech, Mtech, BBA, MBA and the more common ones are the BA, MA, Bcom, Mcom, BCA, MCA, LLB, LLM among others. Admissions are offered in May for different levels of study throughout the year. For next year admission, the application process is expected to start in May of 2023. Some of the entrance tests conducted by this university are- GNDU-CET (for engineering and technology courses), MET (for management courses), LET (for law courses) and the scores of the qualifying examination are also taken into account.
It is pertinent to mention here that GNDU has a very active placement and internship cell in which a number of students are placed and interned every year. Leading organizations of the country and of the international reckoning including Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, IBM, etc. regularly come to the campus for placement. According to the placement statistics, more than 950 students were placed across 120+ companies, and the average salary package was 5.6 LPA, while the highest package was 43.33 LPA. Some of the best recruiters which are frequently visited are Amazon, Bosch Engineering, Capgemini, CGI, Dell, Emami Ltd, HDFC Bank, Hitachi, ICICI Bank, JustDial etc. The placement rate at this university varies from 60 to 70 percent for technical programs including BTech to 70 to 80 percent in management and computer application streams.

Guru Nanak Dev University has a committed placement cell through which the students are provided with job opportunities. The leading companies that offer employment to the young candidates after campus placement are Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, and Tech Mahindra. The highest salary offered in GNDU was reported to be up to 180000 rupees per annum. The pay scale can be moderate and is within the range of Rs 4-6 lakhs per annum in general. Most of the students get placed in IT services based companies Majority of the students get placed in IT service based companies. Every year approximately 60-70 percent students from the eligible list register themselves for campus placements and among them about 80 percent get selected through campus recruitment. It highlights that Engineering, Management and Computer Applications streams bag the maximum number of placements.
