IKGPTU Mohali is one of the state technical universities situated in Punjab at Mohali and officially known as I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University. IKGPTU was established in 1997 and it is accredited from UGC (University Grants Commission) and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The university was recently accredited grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In NIRF Rankings 2023 released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, IKGPTU has been ranked 101-150 in the Engineering category.
The university provides several undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, architecture, pharmacy, management, computer applications, and applied sciences, etc. Some of the popular courses are B.Tech, M.Tech, BBA, MBA, MCA, B.Pharma, M.Pharma etc. The admission process starts in the month of April every year for most of the colleges. Thus, for B.Tech admissions the university considers score obtained in JEE Mains exam in addition to the marks in class 12th. For other courses, university conducts IKGPTU CET exam in June-July.
IKGPTU has a very active placement and internship cell that offers pre-placement talks, recruitment, internships and other placement related activities. Some of the reputed companies that visit the campus for recruitment include Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, L&T, IBM. The students of different disciplines were offered more than 1900+ job offers. The maximum salary offered was of 32.6 LPA and the average salary offered was of 6.2 LPA.
