IIT Goa is an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) that is one of the new IITs which were established by the Government of India in 2016. It is an Institution of National Importance Fully Recognised by The Institutes of Technology Act,1961. The NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) granted Grade ‘A’ to IIT Goa in 2022. As per the NIRF Rankings 2023 that were recently declared by the Government of India; IIT Goa has been placed at the 37th position among Engineering Institutes in India.
At present the institute conducts B.Tech courses in five different disciplines which are Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering. The 4-year 8-semester B.Tech Programme is intended to give students extensive knowledge in science and technology as well as knowledge of humanities and social sciences. The application for 2024 batch will be opened later in 2023 and students are admitted on the basis of JEE Advanced rank. Most semester exams are usually held in the months of November-December and April-May each year.
