The IIT Patna is one of the new generation IITs that was established by the government of India in year 2008. It is an Institute of National Importance that was fully recognized under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. The university has also got its NAAC Grade in the current year 2023 as A++. IIT Patna has been placed at 37nd position among all engineering college in India in NIRF Rankings 2023.
The institute provides B.Tech in various fields and streams like Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Civil Engineering etc. JEE Advanced exams are used to select students for the university due to its competition and high standards. JEE Main for the batch of 2024 is to be conducted in January and April 2023, and for JEE Advanced, it is in May 2023. Besides B.Tech, IIT Patna has M.Tech, M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in multiple fields of engineering, science and technology.
Some of the major recruiting companies are Microsoft, Amazon.com, Samsung, Tata consultancy services, infosys. This season over 80% of the students got placed and the maximum salary offered was up to 49 LPA. Average salary remained on average about 18,000 per annum also for the same. Areas of operation that form the core target for placements are information technology, core engineering, consultancy as well as analytics.

The companies which visited campus placements include IT firms, finance and insurance companies, manufacturing firms, trading companies, Automobiles and telecommunication industry. Some of those recruiters consisted of Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs and Infosys to mention but a few. The maximum pay package recorded was 80 LPA was offered by a global investment bank and the median pay offered was 20.45 LPA.
