IARI or Indian Agricultural Research Institute based at New Delhi is the apex national Institute of India for agricultural research, education and outreach. It was established in the year 1905 and is there by recognized as the oldest research center under the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). It is an agricultural university located in New Delhi, India, and recognized as an Institute of National Importance under an act of Parliament, IARI has received a NAAC accreditation grade of 3.88 in the year of 2023. As per the NIRF rankings announced in the recent past for 2023, IARI holds rank 9 among agricultural universities in India.
IARI is a Centre for learning and has a range of programs for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in many disciplines including Agriculture, Horticulture, Engineering, Basic Sciences, Social Science etc. Major courses include B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, M.Sc., M.Tech. Agronomy, Genetics, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics etc for BSc. and Ph.D. programs The admission process of this university start in May of each year. For admissions into various UG programs, the candidates are required to take the national level exams including ICAR AIEEA.
More than 200 students get placed in reputed private companies, research organizations, academic institute etc in every year and the highest salary package was offered 15 LPA. Some of the prominent organizations that hire PG degree holders are Syngenta, Corteva, Rallis, Mahyco, ITC, Godrej Agrovet etc.
