IACS is an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and was established in 1975. It was founded in 1876 which makes it the oldest research institute in the country of India. IACS is one of the approved and recognized research institutes and has NAAC ‘A’ grade. In NIRF rankings of 2023, IACS has secured its position as 32nd in the entire India amongst various institutes offering higher education.
IACS presently provides PhD programs in different areas of basic sciences such as chemistry, physics, biology and also it has integrated MSc PhD programs in these subjects. The process of getting admitted consists of passing a written test and being interviewed. The online applications will begin from November, 2024 from the institute website. The candidates are selected and ranked in order of proficiency in BSc/MSc examinations, research ability and the result of the admission written test and interview.

1. Only the Indian national candidates, who have passed or pursuing the final year of the bachelor’s degree in the relevant field such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. shall be considered eligible to apply for the positions mentioned above.
2. Persons who were in their final year during the last academic session can apply, though they will be offered admission on an unconditional basis depending on their final grades.
3. Candidate should have 60% aggregate marks in their bachelor’s degree or equivalent CGPA to be eligible for the program.
4. Lowering the cutoff percentage by 5% for candidates from the reserved categories in the exam.
5. The University will provide preference to the admission for those candidates who have passed CSIR, UGC, NET, GATE and other national level examination.

IACS is the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and students who attend this school have very high chances of getting placed. Recruiting companies involved; Tata consultancy service, cognizant, infosys, wipro, for IT, analytics, research. The highest salary offer till now with regard to IACS placements is Rs 18 lakhs per annum. The median salary offer of IACS placements is Rs 5-7 lakhs per annum. Since its inception, IACS BTech and MTech programs have been successful in placing more than 90 percent of its students in the IT, and research sectors IACS is fortunate to have industry partnerships with the leading IT and research organizations.
