IMU Visakhapatnam is one of the leading universities in marine science and technology education with courses in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering, Marine engineering, Nautical sciences and over ten programs. The admission criterion differs from department to department – For Naval Architecture, the student need to clear class 12 with PCM or PCME, get 45% or above in their JEE Mains examinations. The criteria for Marine Engineering is 55% in PCM in 12th having passed the IIT JEE Mains or advanced examination. The BSc Nautical Science admission criteria are a bit different – the students must have passed 12th with at least 60% PCM, hold a Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering with not less than 50% marks, and clear the IMU CET entrance examination.
The admission process for joining in IMU Vizag for the year 2024 begins in 2023 generally in the months of January and July. Some of the Key disciplines are Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Nautical Science and Business Administration. The Bachelor programs offered in IMU requires the CET administered by IEMU themselves and other factors such as 12th standard score, age, physical fitness. The Indian Maritime University Visakhapatnam Campus Admission: The IMU Visakhapatnam has released Application forms for the undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered under its marine studies and naval architecture streams. IMU Visakhapatnam also offers its students online portal for admission through the website www.imu.edu.in or they can get the application form from university and apply for it.
IMU Visakhapatnam online application procedure includes candidate registration with basic details such as name, date of birth, e-mail id, mobile number etc On the basis of this candidate has to fill the application form, upload documents like foto, signature, SSC, HSC mark sheet also the payment of application fee is made through online. For offline admission, the form is also available for download from the university website, which the students can fill and submit to the university together with other supporting documents. 1. The candidate needs to identify when the BBA admissions are being offered this can be found at the university website or through the advertisement. This is usually done in either May or June each year.
2. When admission is open, go to the university’s website and click on the application process where you would find an application for BBA. The last one shall be accompanied by a button leading to the online application.

- The admission to all the programmes is offered based on the candidate’s performance in the national level Common Entrance Test called ‘IMU-CET’ conducted by the Indian Maritime University.
- The university has B.Tech Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture programs where the Visakhapatnam campus is home to both programs. The numbers of total seats offered for Marine Engineering is 60 while Naval Architecture has 20 only.
- The examination known as IMU-CET was held in June 2022. Hence, information about the results and the counselling details are yet to be announced and it is believed that it will be uploaded in the official website of the university, that is, imu.edu.in.
- CET results once out, only those candidates who have scored the minimum required cut of marks will be called for counselling as well as seat allotment exercise depending on their preferences, category and merit list rank.
- Those getting seats in the Visakhapatnam campus will finish the admission by paying the admission / semester fees before the last date conveyed by the university. Teaching is expected to start in 3rd week of August based on the past semesters’ schedules.
- The university has its own entrance examination known as the All India Common Entrance Test known as IMU-CET, which is taken by students to gain admission into the university. Applicants and aspirants have to go and sit for this exam.
- For general category candidates, there is no percentage criteria for Class 12 exams in order to be able to apply for a particular stream of engineering. But SC/ST candidates require a minimum 50 %marks in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
- IMU-CET contains 100 questions in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Computer Science, English language and comprehension, General Science and Proficiency. Duration is 2 hours.
- As per the IMU-CET ranking and Choices of Campuses/Courses offered, the candidates are provided seats in the various Campuses of IMU or IMU affiliated Institutes offering Marine Engineering.
- In addition to the IMU-CET score candidate also has to fulfill all the necessary requirements concerning the age, medical fitness, vision, etc in order to gain the final admission.
- According to the government of India rules and regulations, there are some category wise seats already reserved such as seats for SC/ST/OBC candidates and children of marine staff.
