Jaypee University of Information Technology Solan or JUIT Solan is a university that is located in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a variety of fields. The eligibility criteria may also differ depending on the particular departments and courses of a student’s choice. The computer science engineering department provides B.Tech in computer science and the admission criteria is that the candidate must clear 12th or any equivalent examination and should have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the main subjects and the candidate should secure an aggregate of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) and the candidate should also qualify in an entrance examination conducted by the university. The following examinations are considered for admission in this course, the JEE Main and Advanced, the UPSEE and the JUIT-SET conducted by the JUIT. The biotechnology department provides B.Tech in Biotechnology where the student should have passed 12th or equal examination in physics chemistry and mathematics/ Biology as main subjects and student must get 60% marks in their 12th examination or equal examination with 55% for SC/ST. Entering JEE Main, UPSEE and JUET-SET examinations can be used to apply to this course.
The major streams taught at JUIT Solan across different majors in the under graduate and post graduate level are Engineering & Technology,Computer Science & Application Sciences,Design, Languages & Communication, Business Management & Tourism & Hotel Management. These are the important exams which a candidate can use for getting admission into various JUIT courses namely JEE Main, JEE advanced, UPSEE, JUET-SET, CAT, MAT, NCHM JEE, NATA/NID. The admission process for a course that is supposed to start in 2024 is normally initiated at around February-March of each year. As per the desired JUIT courses, the students have to write some Common entrance tests or entrance tests specific to JUIT. Later they can register through the online option available through the university portal in some specified dates and they can apply for the counseling by the choice filling process. The seat allotment is done according to the performance in entrance examination, choice and the availability of seat. They normally start in early third week of July or first week of August depending on the completion of admission process.

1. The admission procedures include the merit of the candidate in the JUIT Entrance Exam and the performance in the Class 12th.
2. They must at least clear the entrance test and their boards. Cut-off marks are declared year by year depending on the test taken and the candidates who appear for that test.
3. The weightage of JUIT Entrance exam for admissions is 60 percent and the overall Class 12th board results have 40 percent weightage.
4. The merit list is calculated with the aggregate of the following two aspects: The performance weightages, and The test/quiz weightages.
5. This school year the school does not enforce any quotas or reservations in the admission process for any category. There are no pre-requisite criteria for joining any of the classes, as it is based solely on the entrance test scores.
6. If the candidates are tied then the candidate having better marks in the class twelfth is given priority. In case both the candidate’s class 12th marks are similar, the candidate who is younger in age gets the advantage.

1. Entrance Exam Merit: Selection of candidates will be based on merit depending on their performance on the JUIT Joint Entrance Examination popularly referred to as JEE. The scores imply the rank and probability of admission; the higher the rank, the better the probability of being admitted.
2. Class 12 Marks: The total sum of the class XII board division obtained by the candidates will be taken into account. The greater percentage of the candidate, the greater chance of being admitted into that university.
3. Category and State Quota: This means that there are some percentage of the total number of seats that are specifically saved for certain category such as SC/ST/OBC and the Kashmiri Migrants. These quotas include: Candidates who are eligible for consideration under any of these quotas will be considered. Also, there is a quota of 50% for candidates belonging to Himachal Pradesh only.
4. Opening and Closing Ranks: In light of the above criteria, JUIT will declare the opening and closing ranks for each of the B.Technology programs offered. The candidates will have to score a rank falling into this range for them to qualify for admission in a specific branch.

To apply online, the candidate has to visit the official site of the university, which is www.juit.ac.in and under Admissions’ tab. Forums for application are usually accompanied by an application form which is to be filled and submitted with the application fee.
2. Qualification: You have to be a 10+2 pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects and minimum 60% marks in aggregate (55% marks for SC/ST category only).
3. JUIT Entrance Test – The JUIT Engineering entrance test commonly referred to as JUEE is mandatory for admission.
4. Application Fees - The candidates have to pay Rs. 1000 for the application fee. It can be paid online while filling the form or by demand draft mode only.
5. Other Essential Documents – SSC mark sheets of 10th and 12th, JEE main admit card (if given for the examination) , caste certificate if applicable, photographs etc.
