The University of Karnataka offers several undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the faculties of science, commerce, liberal arts, education and law. The criteria for departments differ from the above ones. For the BSc programs, the candidate should have passed 2nd PUC with the science stream and secured marks ranging between 45-50% depending on the course offered by the department such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany or Zoology and so on. BCom program offered by the Commerce department necessitates students to secure 45%-50% in second Pre-University College (PUC) stream for commerce groups. Most of the BA program of Colleges and Universities in subjects like Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History and others accept students from all streams of 2nd PUC with 45% of marks. The BEd program under the umbrella of Education department Admission to BEd program is done from the graduates in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce with minimum 50% marks in the graduation. LLB program offered by the Law department is open to all graduates with 45% of aggregate of marks obtained in their respective undergraduate program.
Some of the Under Graduate & Post Graduate courses are provided at University level that spread over faculties of Science, social sciences, commerce, Education & Law.
The current admission Procedure at Karnatak University Dharwad enables applicants who wish to apply to do so either through online or offline methods. For applying online for admission at Karnatak University, the candidates are required to log on to the university’s official website www.kud.ac.in. They have to choose the course they want and then very carefully complete the online admission application according to the instructions. The scanned copies of necessary documents, photographs and signatures must be uploaded according to their formats and sizes. The fees for the online application can be remitted through Net banking/ Credit /Debit card.

Karnatak University Dharwad has many undergraduate programs in arts, science, commerce, management, etc. In total, it has 30 constituent colleges and around 100 affiliated colleges. Few of the well-known UG departments are BSc in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology Computer Science having qualification of passing 12th science stream or other equivalent national /International board examination like CBSE, ICSE of State Boards. BCom department has subjects of specialization like Accounting, Finance, and Marketing with the requirement of 12th from any stream and Commerce, Arts or Science. BA department provides combinations of subjects in English, Kannada, Hindi, History, Economics and Political Science for the students who have passed 12th exams in any group.
UG courses include a range of disciplines that are taught by colleges affiliated to Karnatak University. Some of the most sought after UG programs offered are B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, computer Science, Electronics, B.Com in Accounting, Business Administration, Banking BBM or BBA in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Business analytics.
PhD courses are offered by Karnatak University Dharwad across all the departments of business management and studies, biotechnology, chemistry, commerce, computer science, economics, education, English, Kannada, Library science and documentation, mathematics, micro biology, physics, political science, and statistics. The basic and fundamental requirement for admission to a PhD programme is a Master’s degree in that particular discipline with a minimum of fifty-five percent of the total marks. The qualifying examinations accepted are UGC NET, SET, GATE, CAT, GPAT, ICAR, ICMR, INSPIRE etc., and valid certificate. It is also important to note that some departments may allow the holder of an MPhil degree to be admitted into their programme.
The University provides both full time and part time PhD programmes in future streams Language & literature, Basic Sciences, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Management, Education and Library Sciences.
